This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

The £31.19 NBP price is shipped from Spain quickly, which is the same price but £2.46 shipping costs added on. It would be quicker to get it and no VAT added. So actually maybe that is the better deal?

Anyway, this dash cam from Yi ticks all the boxes — it is compact, has a viewing angle of 130º, a 2.7" monitor, and the camera is Full HD. A bargain really.

Note this price does not include an SD card, but everyone has an old one of them lying around right?

Had one of these for a couple of years. It’s never failed and saved my bacon when someone hit me car last year. They produced a fictitious witness who apparently saw the whole thing, I produced the footage and they admitted liability. It’s a £27,000 claim saved by a £27 dashcam.

Cheap for what you get - a reasonable camera. However look at how it compares to a £27 G1W from 5 years ago.

hotukdeals.com/deals/yi-dash-cam-grey-one-deal-of-the-day-2699-sold-by-yi-official-store-uk-and-fulfilled-by-amazon-2984769?android_app=new_activity

I'd advise people buy from seller like Amazon (they know they can return easily to), buy a few and try them out and compare their footage. Most basic dash cams produce reasonable footage now, but there is also a lot of variation and it's not always price dependent.

You're being fair. Unfortunately this one is currently unavailable on Amazon, but AliExpress stores are mostly reputable now and often offer free returns.

This deal is for 130 degree lens version which have its own pros&cons but ain't that great overall. One you linked is the grey 165 degree lens version.

Can you get up to date, modern version, reasonably priced G1W these days?

I don't believe you can at sub £30. Viofo have an improved version (G1W-S) on Amazon for £70, but I wouldn't consider that to be reasonably priced. There are other 'fakes' on eBay, but should probably be avoided. At the time I bought mine, there were loads of cheap clones which were inferior anyway. I don't know of any cameras which are as good or better for the money from the past 5 years. My point was that folks compare, because tech from 5 years ago in some cases is better.

You're correct about the Yi I've described having a different viewing angle. The OP's camera would have an improved resolution on objects directly in front of it. My bet (given the sensor and noise/artifacts in the other Yi) is the quality of the picture would still be poorer than my old G1W.

Could this be hard wired? Is it worth it?
I use my GoPro hero 7 black as a dash cam on a max Loop, records for around 2 hours 40 minutes and then records over again on a loop . Footage is top quality and great at night .

I origionally had a G1W (non-fake) which failed after about 18 months. There didn't seem to be a cheap, reliable (non-fake) replacement at the time so I ended up replacing it with a Yi and was always dissapointed with the quality of the Yi in comparison to the G1W as the picture always seemed very grainy.

You don't leave it in your car over night though do you?

Nope unclip and bring it in .
Also wouldn't leave a cheap one on show , idiots still smash your window thinking it's worth more .

After a casual search on YouTube, it looks promising. YouTube compress all their footage - is there any chance you could upload a very short raw clip?
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement screen mount for this camera?
Got one of these last year and they're brilliant for the price. More than clear enough & really easy to use with the app
Great camera

Yes..but that's 5-6 times more the price of this ...
Mediocre picture quality. Terrible at high speed meaning number plate becomes unreadable
I have had one of these for a couple of years and now the battery is no good, works ok plugged in but dies as soon as you upplug it.

The memory card needs reformatting every few months as well in my case.

I'm not using mine atm sorry! I haven't got round to swapping this back in.
Check DashCamTalk, I imagine there are links to download there

Thanks for the useful site. I'm not convinced it offers anything over the G1W, but for £40 it looks to be almost as good, which means loads better than the Yi and a great basic camera. This is what I'll have my eye on in future. Different price point, bit a significant upgrade and one I think is worth it.
I bought this Dashcam a year or so ago and it’s good value for money.

Wireless connectivity is very hit and miss though
Wish they still sold proper G1W’s. Had my at least a couple years now and it’s starting to show. Still works but the battery is about gone now. I see some on AliExpress but I fully expect it not to be the same quality. Ideally would get the capacitor version this time as well. I tried to replace with a Viofo one last year and it was horrendous, the quality was terrible. These don’t look too bad but still nothing on the G1W.

The battery on my G1W has gone also, soon as I turn the engine off the thing dies and the last clip that is currently recording at the time becomes corrupted. The only way to stop that happening is to manually stop recording first but ain't nobody got the effort to do that. Spent a little bit more money and picked up the Nextbase 322GW, I'm hoping it'll last more than a year!

I've got the 60fps version but as per earlier posts, even when footage is edited on a desktop PC it's difficult to make out reg plates. My old SJ4000 produces better footage even though that's only 30fps
Mine started freezing after a year
anyone know why you can't get yi dash cams on Amazon anymore?
1080p lol
The amount of data it provides is amazing! I
I’ve had a YI dashcam for 3 years now , got it off amazon and like the wireless transfer of files to my phone, would definitely buy another but not from the store quoted

It's supposed to record over old footage when the card is full, which mine does. Maybe you have some settings messed up. That said I might have a slightly different model as mine records at a higher FPS or a higher resolution than the one in this post.

a.aliexpress.com/_UaYUO what’s the difference between the one posted and this link? It seems to be £24.89 on this one from the same seller?
I have the 1080p 60fps Grey version of this from a sub-£30 Amazon deal and the video quality is great. Doesn't look like the Grey one is sold anymore sadly.

I've bought one of these before, I would it's RRP price is a rip off and the lower cost is actually what it's worth
