Thanks for the heads up, just purchased two and looks like there's an extra discount so worked out at £18.11 per camera.

It's kind of OK in good light, with poor lighting it really suc ks.
I have 6 of them for sale if any body wants that ...
It's a nightmare to connect these on my Pixel.
Wouldn't picked up WiFi name.
Found a workaround which suits fine.

Say/said goodbye to instant notification - non existent.
Doesn't support 5g routers
Got 3 of these and they are good for the price.. not had an issue with picture quality or connection to the network.. only thing that annoys me is the price of the cloud storage.
Caught many a cat entering the cat-flap and nicking my poor cats food.... Plus I turn it around and watch the foxes in the garden, only in daylight though, not any good once the sun goes down...
Been using the 720p models for ages. Very good and the quality at night is excellent
Had one of these and had to return it, it kept detecting movement and alerting me when there was nothing there.
It was as if the screen brightened and then darkened multiple times which caused the notification.
Luckily I bought from Amazon so return was simple.
Had Yi make CCV (for UK market), but not this model. On my model, generally happy with looks and performance, although for the latter there were some improvements that could be made (pros and cons depending on your device).

However, all changed following one of the last updates near the end of 2019. Without warningthe essential 'app' failed on older equipment, rendering CCTV useless. One of the (similar) cameras still within 12months of purchase.
Yi Support gave basic, probably standard advice but essentially YI not interested. Asked for clarification on the lifespan of the current App - Yi did not know, ie how long is a piece of string! Without a working app, goodbye CCTV.
As with any potential purchsee, do your homework before buying. Make up your own mind, but be warned!
On a cautionary note, AliExpress is a Chinese company (nothing wrong with that), but check that CCTV is compatible with UK. It seems that cameras destined for Chinese market have to be hacked to work in the UK.

This may be caused by the use of infra-red. If that being the case, if placed next to a reflective item, ie CCTV next to window, during dull conditions, and particulary darkness, the infra red will reflect back and this will cause the camera to brighten and darken continuously untill daylight returns. Therefore you should deactivate the I/R option. An outdoor camera with activated I/R in a nearby area may help to illuminate the outdoor area. I/R is not visible to the naked eye, although the small lights on a camera screen may be visible, but you would have to look closely from the street to see them. I/R is visible to neighbours cameras and vice versa.

Similarly I've read that an outdoor camera with I/R activated may react with bright lights around the perimiter of your home. Using your chosen app device the infra-red may be deactivated and reactivated as required. Hope this may help with any future purchases. Also see my post below. Not happy with YI (and I guess this may apply to other companies too). Overall been happy with Yi product, but not with non-working essential Yi app or poor Yi customer service (customer messages ignored).

Unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Camera was pointed at empty babies crib in a dark room. Tried repositioning numerous times but had the same effect.
I have one of these. Very washed out looking on screen... not sure what the problem is. My two 1080 domes and 720 one of these are fine, but he 1080 is very washed out looking.

Very good camera. I have a couple. Just that it doesn't speak to Amazon Echo.
Do they ship to Tyneside?

Second that
are these better than the tp link ones?
Alright, few questions;

Can I store to a NAS instead of SD Card?
Can I use external cloud storage, not Yi. So Google Driver, Dropbox, My own personal setup etc.

If it can save to a network location that would be instant win.

I've got both 720p and 1080p models and you can see the difference between the 2, if you can go for the 1080p

Get your moggie a Sureflap as a New Year’s present! They only allow cats with the right microchips through. May seem expensive for a cat flap, but getting one made such a difference to our cat’s quality of life (and saved us having to constantly wipe tomcat spray off the kitchen cupboards .) Worth it and worth the cost of microchipping if yours isn’t done yet.

Also many 5ghz routers have the 2.4ghz signal, log on and turn 5ghz off when you pair the camera, then log back in and enable both frequencies. Worked for me, BT router.
The 360 dome camera by the same manufacturer is much better and on offer on a regular basis too
Had one of these for years, chinese version, which is exactly the same but you have to have the chinese version of the software.
It's brilliant. I have it on an upstairs window ledge pointing over the driveway, gets everything, day and night. I wouldn't use it for notifications, because it would catch too much. I have a 32gb SD card in, and it keeps over a months worth of video - there is an option to cloud stream it to, for about a fiver for three months. Its absolutely perfect for being able to review on your phone, then take the SD card and copy it onto your PC if required. It actually assited in a police issue we had six months ago.
I also recently bought an external camera on amazon for 25 quid which is a rebadged version of this in a waterproof housing.

There is a yi Amazon skill now, so you can see camera image on echo show. Works ok but get a buffer issue every now and then, but I get that with my other camera makes as well .
Had mine for a year now looking outside onto my car. Caught my neighbour hitting my car a few weeks ago who didn't even bother leaving a note. He's now got a bill for a respray
Got one currently being used to keep an eye on dog when in kitchen and cannot be arsed to go downstairs, also usefull when we are out to see dog causing chaos when locked in kitchen. Great camera's never had any issues with Yi items.

I don’t think that will work on a Yi camera. Quite possibly they share the same electronics but think the firmware is not the same, the Yi cameras are standalone they don’t integrate with the Mi ecosystem, or google etc.
