I've got 3 of these and can recommend them, you get unlimited 6 second recorded clips for free, if you want more than this you will need to sign up for their cloud service which costs. The app which you need to run these is very good, and you get 2 way audio communication as well. Bargian.
Nice camera. You may not realise that the black circular camera can be detached from the stand, for more discreet placement.

You can to keep your recordings on SD card from 8GB to 32GB for free, (32G can work for aprox. 39h recordings)
I've got this camera, but I just couldn't set it up. Kept beeping, not connecting, I kept on re-setting, then I just gave up.

Looks reasonable, but for a few £££s more I picked up one that pans and tilts...bit bigger footprint and audio isn’t great, but you can look around”
this is 1280x1080 hardly 1080p maybe try v2 its sounds better and is a proper 1920x1080 (no longer detachable though as earlier commenter mentioned):

What happens when card is full? Can you make it constantly record to sd and delete the oldest footage automatically?

Yes, automatically delete the old records

But only records the motion events right? Not constant? Also I cant work out how to allow another user to switch the cam on and off. My invited user doesnt have the on off button on their app.
How good is the Motion detection please?

I want to check for mice
I have three of these, two of which I was using as baby monitors.

They were fine for a while, but the app became unstable with updates such that it will now regularly crash to home screen if left streaming video for a long period of time. Obviously that's not ideal when using as a baby monitor through the night. The crashing happens on three different Android phones, two iPhones and an iPad so I'm reasonably confident it's the app.

Otherwise I think they're good. If you're using them to check in as a security measure they're perfectly serviceable.

I have recently replaced the two used as baby monitors with Tapo cameras from TP Link (on sale this week for £19.99 each). No crashing on constant streaming (so far) but the big benefit of the Tapo apps is the ability to play more than one video source (with audio from both) at the same time. The cameras are also more 'open' in that they can easily be used with third party apps which have different functionality. The Yi cameras can be hacked to allow that, but it's not perfect.

I have mine setup to trigger alert for motion (saves 6s clips). But also to save constant footage to SD Card. So if you have a 6s clip that you want to view more of, you just scroll to that that timestamp. Max 32gb SD Card I believe.
It works well.

The app although works pretty well is very confusing, it hides features very well and you can access the same feature by different paths which makes it hard to know why you can’t suddenly find a feature you saw a minute ago.

I can’t see a way of accessing the sd card footage unless you get a motion alert in your notification page. Then you watch the 6second clip, then when it finishes you can click the watch entire clip button that appears afterwards.

I’m assuming you are paying a subscription? Thats why you can see a timeline and can pick any time you want?

128GB Cards work too. Approximately 9 days of continuous 1080p recording although scrubbing all the way back 9 days is a mission in the app.
Some horrible person keeps stealing my front door welcome mats, 6 stolen in the last 6 months, I even glued a couple but still gone. I don’t have internet at home, would this camera still detect movement for 6 seconds and send alerts to my phone?

It’s a very sticky situation to be in

You can add a sd card and will record on the card. The disadvantage will be to keep removing the sd from the camera to check the recordings, if you don't have internet connection.

Well... you don’t have to have Internet to have LAN... I think it should work with that but I’ve not tested

Have you tried setting it up directly into your router using an ethernet cable. I had the same problem that you're describing with some other very similar branded cameras. Then when it's connected you can change the settings to WIFI and take the ethernet cable out.

Same on mine, and when I scan the QR code on the back of the camera it said it is US version, I have to switch to US account, but my other camera are in Europe account. I have no problem on other three Yi camera which sold by Amazon not like this one by third party seller.

Maybe you need to log into your router settings and turn off your 5ghz while you set it up and then turn back on when it's all working.
Might be a dumb question, but if I record footage to an SD card, can I view recordings remotely via the app? Or do I have to remove the SD card from the camera?

And if I can view via the app, am I able to access it from a mobile data connection rather than while connected to the same network?

You can view the recordings from anywhere without removing the sd card.

How do you get the 6s clips? Sent to your phone or uploaded to the cloud?

I don’t know how to set the camera to send the clips !

Thanks. Forgot to add "without paying a subscription". Does that change anything?

It will work fine without subscription, the only advantage i can see for subscribing is you can look back at older recordings that your sd card may have written over.
For 7 more quid i bought EZVIZ 1080 camera and its decent

Try a personalised door mat! Bit expensive but no good for anyone else if it says “this door mat belongs to the Morgan’s 10 park place etc

Do these IP cams work with generic CCTV / IP Camera software running on Windows so the software can do the capture to a PC HDD rather than the camera itself doing the saving to SD / cloud based subscriptions? Or is it purely limited to standalone SD / Cloud / mobile phone app use?
Great camera. Records to sd card motion detected events (for however long their is motion - none of this six second malarkey) - app is great, no crashing or difficult to use/find things. Great quality video and night vision. We have one outside and one as baby monitor.
