Great cameras made by a company in Newcastle. They also do a version for keeping an eye on your dog called YI Pet.
dan760026/12/2019 10:22

They're Chinese?

I think you should re-read it. It’s a play on the ‘Y’ and ‘I’....... a salutation in the North East!

I very nearly looked for the pet version. Very good .

I stand corrected. Seems you cannot trust the camels. Apologies wholeheartedly 🏻

Does this take an sd card rather than Yi watching me...

Ordered 2 for a mate. cheers
Fantastic cameras. I've got four over the past year and they are so useful and easy to move from room to room.

Even used them pointing into the garden through the window glass and they are still effective.

They were only 18.99 before Christmas though and I think I paid 17.49 for one of them earlier in the year.

I've got a slightly older model of this camera and can't get it working on a new, android 9 phone. It works on my older phone but on the new one, it cannot see my WiFi network ssid.. Reseting camera didn't work, changing frequency on a router didn't work.. Any ideas?

Yes BUT... mine drove me mad at set up, wouldn't connect to my internet until I almost gave up and sent it back. Last effort was to change my internet WiFi ID so it had NO NUMBERS IN IT. Used to have a Motorola kids camera which cost 4 times as much, this puts it to shame.
This camera has great picture quality but the notifications are useless. It tells you every little thing that happens... including rain, moving leaves etc. Nothing happens without you getting a notification. I turned my notifications off in the end.
Nice one for getting back to me. I’ll buy it, try it and if it drive me up the wall I’ll return it!

Yeah that’s annoying. Can you rewatch the movement on your phone? Say someone comes up your drive in the middle of the night and I had my notifications off, can I go back and see when there was movement?
If you plug it in with a powerbank (10000mah), how long do you think it will last?

It depends whether the cam will recharge and then just use a full charge then turn off. Some power banks need you to press a button to start recharging devices. If it’s happy to constantly draw power from the power bank, then it would be weeks. If it triggers on motion, and it isn’t in a busy place.

Don't think that was for the 1080p version. Never been lower than this price according to camelcamel.

Never been that price on Amazon.
We point ours out of the window. Hasn't missed a beat in 6 months since we bought it.
I believe it can take a larger micro sd than stated.
Also night vision doesn't work through a window.
They’re brilliant! You can set up notifications to be less sensitive to movement, for example ignoring rain drips or box out certain areas for example trees blowing in wind.
They really are nifty sets fully customisable and very easy to set up.
Literally plug camera into socket, install app on phone, hold phone in front off camera (installs itself) then position camera. That’s it!

This is the 360 dome version but the Yi Home app does the same for this camera too if you have a micro SD card inserted. The orange blocks are when motion was recorded and you can scroll back to view those bits.

Note someone asked if you can just use micro SD so Yi can't "see" it - I'm not sure this is possible as the camera can only be used in the app once you've paired it and in doing so it is streaming via their servers.

Yes if you put an SD memory card in. A timeline is displayed and any time it sees movement it records it and colours a section of the timeline so you can jump to it. You can also set smart area detection so it only notifies you if there is movement in a specific area. For the cost of the camera it’s not a bad system.
Brilliant piece
love it Simple
Turn down the sensitivity of the detection
picture quality brilliant night and day
£20 no brainer

Yes. 6s clip free, for extended footage you need SD card or their cloud sub.

You can have movement detection on within the yi home app and then turn off notifications within android.

Is this cheapest it's ever been?
bloody wires, do they do a rechargeable/battery version? One that notifies on app when low battery?
Thanks for the post OP.

Anyone with experience or knowledge able to let me know if this or screwfix.com/p/t…wcB is a better purchase?
