These are great, and price is excellent. I can't get enough of them, I think I may have a problem!

A couple of points, as they keep coming up with YI

> All the snap shot footage is stored on the cloud weather you pay or not; some have raised concerns about a Chinese company storing and having access to the CCTV. IMO this is unfounded paranoia, but still worth noting. YI offer this paid service as it allows access to footage if the camera gets stolen
> A lot of comments raise points about the subscription. However, one is not required for this cam and is not the same as Ring which basically renders the CCTV useless unless you subscribe. Every cam has a SD slot, and you can store the footage there, and the cam will continue to store snap shot footage (about 30s) when motion is detected which I think is stored for 24hrs, and can be downloaded from your phone. Be sure to keep motion detection enabled; even if you don't want the alerts (which can be switched off separately and timed)
> The APP is not useless, has been updated and continues to get updates. The notifications seem to attract comments that they don't work, but this seems to have been improved, and I have seen few issues personally.
> If any of the above bothers you, or you want more features above those that YI offer, then there is custom firmware that many think is the bees knees, and is continuing to be developed. Not had any need for it personally, but if anything you get a great camera you can attach to your our software

If your thinking of buying it, then buy it. I don't think any other "budget" CCTV can compete at this time

You don't need a timestamp on the actual frontage, although it may help. Not this cam, but I successfully used CCTV in a UK court a couple of years back with no timestamp, although it made part of a larger case, as it often will if you ever get to court. The police have to make reasonable effort to be sure that the footage is authentic; in my case they used the exif data from the file which does include timestamp information for when the offence took place.

The biggest task is getting the police to come and have a look in the first place

On a lightening deal at the moment £25.49
Yeah not a fan of the white cloud camera. Need the black 360 one :-) but I do thank you for replying :-)
Really good price for the 1080p version. Best yet I think.
would there be a way to get this to automatically turn on if I set my home alarm (Yale)? I want it to monitor my living room but I don't want it on while people are sat in there
Bought the 720p version few years ago and happy with the camera itself. Software not so great but it works for our use

Not sure you can do that but the camera can be disabled from the phone app.

Is it a smart Yale home alarm? Unfortunately these lack IFTTT integration but possibly adding a smart plug that turns on or off with a Yale smart alarm or if it is a regular Yale alarm, you could set the plug (and thus the camera) to turn on when your phone leaves the house and certain scenarios?

You can turn it on/off via Alexa skills so if your Yale alarm supports it I guess you could create this functionality using Alexa as the go-between.
This or the 720p 20fps dome version? Want to catch someone doing their business outside our house (actually their dog I hope).
Good price!
Sorry if this is a dumb question. Where do these record to? Or do they not record?

I assume the sd card will be in the camera?
If so if someone was in your house and see the camera all they have to do is take it and left with no evidence

Yes but you'll get a 6-second clip in the cloud if it senses motion unless you pay for the cloud service. To be blunt, if you're relying on a £20 camera for complete home security and someone is in your house, you have bigger problems!

I pay £60 a year for five cameras to record to the cloud on a 7day loop recording all movement

Did you turn on location services on your phone. You need it to set up the camera, once done you can turn it off
This may be old news to others, but just finding out myself

FYI - if you apply the discount, it will only apply to the single item. However, 2 separate purchases, and you can still use the discount everytime

Don’t check very often I have to say, usually just check local recording but I had a look and mine seem to be okay. Usual blockiness from the through glass camera and since the council started turning our street lights off at night it hasn’t helped but the actual recordings don’t seem to have gotten worse.

How do you get it for that price?
It seems your local criminals are getting pretty smart to these and attack the external meter cupboards before they enter any potential victims house. So, if you're only planning on using these, and live in a house newer than say 1980, don't forget to secure your meter cupboard as a matter of priority as (like most) these cameras do not have a battery back up.

Hot price Op btw.

Very good point.

I have a sensor on the door of mine so it alerts me when it's opened and will trigger my alarm if it's set.
I also have a UPS for any power failures so my cameras (they are poe) will still run for a short while

Did a little digging for those that might not be able to secure their Meters. Found this option for UPS/Battery back up which looks pretty cheap and worthwhile in higher risk areas.

I some of these and they are excellent as you say, the video stored locally stays for at least 7 days. I'm not sure if this is limited by the size of the memory card or whether it's just a setting built in. Either way it's pretty good, I have Ring cameras and these do exactly the same job without the monthly subscription

One thing to note is that you should get an micro-SD card that is designed for security camera use. Because these are constantly writing over the top of old footage I've had a couple of cheap ones fail and then you only get the 6 second clips which are mostly useless
Good price this.
I don't think these are Fulfilled by Amazon though (whatever that means)
As I have a £7 refund I can only use on items Fulfilled by Amazon and it's not letting me use it.

It is, but I think that is only to prime members (it definitely says "fulfilled by Amazon" on my account when signed in)
These are very decent for the price. Just wish you could get them to show up on TV via Chromecast

Nice summary! I think your post should be pinned as it answers all the key questions. One thing I'll add though is that the Android app seems to have broken notifications - not sure if it's the app or Android itself but if this is critical for you, don't bother. I use an iPhone as well and it works fine.

I don't use custom firmware but I have 14 of these wired up across 3 sites and they are brilliant, I have had one go bad and fail to connect randomly but I think someone banged it as it was one of the outdoor ones and we had clumsy builders...

Also, one key point vs. the motorised ones - you can set motion zones on these whereas the dome ones are whole image motion detect only. Shame they don't allow multiple zones in the same image (e.g. two blocks or a polygon/awkward shape).
Does this work with Alexa/Echo Show?
I'd really like to put one near the front door and if any motion detected, would then stream automatically to Echo Show.
Would this do this or do I need a more expensive set up?
Thanks

Recently here I posted in Discussions that the Android app updated and now has Alexa support.

Nothing else in the Discussion though but, may help answer your question.
