How much is the cloud subscription?
Several 1 star reviews state that the app has been removed from the UK App Store

“There was an iphone app when I first purchased the camera however it is no longer available from app store unless you live in USA which is no good. Secondly you cannot run 4 camera’s on one screen as there isn’t an option and thirdly you cannot download more than 10 minutes at a time.”

The cloud gives you a free 6 sec view of the start of the activity retained for 7 days. An SD card in the camera will record either for the full duration of the movement (or 24/7). You will get the alert from the cloud recording and can easily switch from that to see the recording on the camera.

There are a couple of pay for options to extend the retention of the 6 sec recordings from 7 days (free) for longer periods of time, or have full continuous 24/7 recording to the cloud. But you. Don't need to pay for the cloud, the 6sec recording is adequate for most domestic needs.

That's the iPhone app. The android one seems to be highly rated. No comment on the yi cam yet as mine arrives today.

Can you view what is on the camera live any time? I’m after a camera but not interested in the recording feature, just live view.

Yes absolutely. I have the 360 moving YI camera and love it.
The app is available on the UK Apple App Store as I downloaded it yesterday. I bought the dome version
For people thinking the app isnt available for iPhones, IT IS AVAILABLE ON THE APP STORE. Search for Yi Home Lite. I have the 720p version and its actually really good device thats works well

YI Dome 720p is down to £30 with a voucher which might be a better option if someone wants camera control over resolution.

Hmm this one looks more interesting to me. It's got motion tracking...

I've already got a full CCTV set up. Might buy one for my home office where I don't have a camera and don't care too much about quality.

I have that one which rotates the full 360.

Its brilliant, app works great and I have and SD card in it so don't pay any cloud subscription.

Only have the 720p one but would highly recommend.

How well does the motion tracking work? Have you had any connectivity issues at all?

I've got a cheap camera in my office I wouldn't mind replacing as it randomly reboots itself twice a day, the PTZ is manual only and the connectivity over wifi was atrocious so I had to use a network cable.

You are correct. That’s what I have too. I like the Yi camera quality and apps, I’d probably choose this over the Clever Dog setup but I wish they did a good outdoor camera - as that’s what they’re all missing
This looks suspiciously like the Xiaomi mijia 1080P Smart IP Camera

I've had two of these for a smidgeon under £50 recently. With a SD card added you don't need a cloud subscription
Yes, yes chinese servers etc.....but works well for me
32994982-siztq.jpgI have 2 of these and both work great. Pic above is from the cam that is in the op, situated in the bedroom

In laws are on apple and have the app this also works ok.

Great feature is the dome model,HD one for £37.99 with discount. Alerts come through on your mobile, you can talk through it as well. If it's in your porch like mine you can use the intercom feature which is great. So far so good would recommend these as a cheap big brother set up. 3 members of the family have them set on their mobiles so we can see whats going on at home. As previously mentioned you can watch live view or at the bottom of the screen you have a time line that shows activity in Orange so just just go there and you can see what has set the camera off. We get ours set off mainly by the local fox! in the middle of the night he seems to like going under our cars?

I just received my 3rd one of these in the post today. I bought one before xmas and was extremely impressed so then ordered the dome and finally a second one the same as the one in the link.

My only real concern is that at some point in the future, they may decide to stop the free 6 second cloud clips used for alert notifications and insist on you paying a subscription in order to get video alerts, as Y-Cam recently did. That said, for the price it still seems great value as an easy set up, streaming only camera so it wouldn't be money wasted either way.

Good deal.. thanks op
Tiptop price & features for the Yi Home 1080p

Mate has the newer Yi Home Camera 2 1080p and the stills#hdr video#extra features are superb.

This deal is a great IP camera and with the discount even better, these do sell loony quick so
do not delay if you are #thinking# about it!

If you mean the dome 1080p then it seems that deal is not current. These deals having been yoyoing all over the place though so I dare say it will be back very soon!

Thanks, ordered it.
Like others I got the 720p version at Christmas and have been really impressed, spotted this deal lastnight and ordered this morning.
Got the 720p version at Xmas too. Been great for keeping an eye on the puppy when on his own in the house
I have many of these setup across my neighbors properties and the views are crystal clear
Ordered this, just need a camera to see who's knocking on the door.

I take it the app is ok for all android phones?
Can you limit the video quality on this to save on bandwidth? I have a fixed monthly broadband allowance.

Seems to work really well, quite sensitive as it even picked up a light shining in during the night. Only time i've had connectivity issues was it struggled when my broadband was running really slow and that was only once, rest of the time its been spot on
given it a go at this price
Perfect timing, ordered this after being disturbed last week by someone trying my front door, should go in the bay window covering the door and driveway nicely
Edited by: "GrumpyOldGamer" 5th Jan
Cheers, ordered one to see how it compares to my nest before purchasing a couple more
I have the 720p version of this and have been very pleased i think the best feature is that the night vision red leds IR thingys can not been seen in pitch black so good it does not stand out in a pitch black room if that makes sense. PS have orderd one of these also.
Want a deal on the outdoor one and the 1080 dome. Already got a 720cam and the one in this post and both are great
I have this camera looking out of my window onto my driveway.
Its a little bit too sensitive even if you lower the sensitivity, you will receive app messages constantly if there is any motion in front of it. Mine picks up cars driving up the road 25yds away
the picture quality at day is superb
night obviously is poor as I have to put up with the reflections of the window (but that's my choice)
I once freaked the wife and my son out as I knew they'd just arrived home so I started talking through the mic. My son who is 4 thought I was in the fish tank next to it - bless him lol.

Superb camera I would highly recommend and the App isn't too bad, only downside is there is no website to log on to to look at the videos only the App.

Damn, you think there's a way to get around those reflections? Was going to buy one to point out of window myself.

I've just set one up just as you describe only I'm just covering the front door itself with that particular camera. If you don't use the base and with the help of a bit of blutac or similar to hold it in place, the camera is just about thin enough to sit between the window and venetian (or similar) blinds so I can monitor the front entrance and still keep my privacy in the living room. Very pleased with the results so far, lets just hope the set up works well after dark too!

Nope, got the promo on 720p version and the one linked on this deal but no promo on the link you posted
Highly unlikely that these cameras are compliant with the ICO btw if you make them face outside the boundary of your house. The feed goes to China so is an automatic fail.

Just something to consider when placing these cameras. Or you could just ignore the ICO, I've only 2nd hand heard of 1 person being caught and threatened with a fine.
