Very good deal - originally the compatibility with amazon was a bit patchy, but recently has vastly improved. Highly recommend

How recent we talking? As of a couple of days ago all I get with "Alexa show me the front camera" is buffering

I've had to resort to TinyCam Pro for the time being, which is equally effective, I suppose - I'd just like it to work as intended
I’d also like to know how to get these to work properly with Alexa. Does it work properly on the Yi Home Camera 1080p if it is the ones with the updated chipset that came in second half of last year?

Literally just checked my 3 YI cameras on my echo.

Turns out I spoke too early - it doesn’t work at all! I think it relys on a good internet connection and mine has suddenly died since lockdown happened!

I'm fine with the internet connection. I'm currently on Virgin's 350mbs package which I'm currently having no issues with.

It loads the bloody cam but just keeps jumping from buffer to live. Like I say, it's not really an issue because TinyCam Pro is just as effective. It just doesn't have the same cool ring when asking Alexa to show the cam

There's a free version on the Google Play store if you want to try it out first on an Android device before ploughing £2.99 on the Amazon app.

Fairly straight forward to set up. There's a magnifying glass to the top right of the app which scans your network and will add the cams. You'll obviously need to go into the camera settings once added to add your Yi username and password.

Let me know how you get on

Thanks
I find notifications sketchy with these.
They don't tend to come through when the event is actually happening, I just get a barrage of notifications in one go periodically during the day with all the activations earlier on.
Decent enough as cameras recording action (using Micro sd) but don't rely on them to give you upto date notification.

I use an older one that pressed right up to the window. Turn off the IR and it works alright during the day but reflects the indoor light at night if you have double glazing.

Strange that you have the 3 camels working - I get the message "In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Amazon has asked us to stop updating products in Europe until further notice. Stay safe out there."
The prices that I can see are all old.

Does anyone know if these work with the same Yi app as the 720p ones from a couple of years ago?
Help, I still can't figure out which is the best one to go for ?? Many Thanks. Please

Terrible. All you ever get is "buffering" with a few brief moments of picture.

Works fine with the android app though so it must be the Alexa skill

If you want a cam that works well with an echo, look at a Neos cam. I have one of these YI Cameras and it's terrible with Alexa, you just cant use it as it buffers permanently.
If you want a cam that just works well with an app, then these are fine.

Same. The skill is not improved in the slightest, still the usual constant "buffering".

Downloaded the yi home skill as from memory there is two skills, I have the original echo show like in the picture at the top of this page and an echo show 8 both work fine.

Have you got everything on the same network, make sure if you have 2.4 and 5ghz both on the same

It's a common issue that others, even some above are also seeing. It's not a local network problem, but appreciated in any case.

Did you buy your cameras from the yi official store or another 3rd party seller, I vaguely remember some other sellers were selling cameras with different stock firmware or different region firmware that had caused a few weird issues previously
