A still from a video on the cam at night. Amply covers the road and good enough quality for the price
from some reviews.
it is a Euro/US camera configuration with the camera being on the wrong side
nice find for some. not voting eiher way.
philbot26/07/2019 13:19

Does't make any difference though does it?

I think the problem is that you typically angle your mirror slightly towards you rather than have it parallel to the windscreen
so with this I thinkit would mean the camera is angled towards the pavement and subsequently will be facing those black dots around your mirror also whereas if it were on the other side it would be pointing slightly towards the road and not see those dots

edit: that said I have bought one and will just return it if it is an issue

I have this dashcam already and bought a 2nd for the Mrs car it's exceptionally good! The whole "wrong side" thing isn't an issue, the lense protrudes out far enough and with enough adjustability that it honestly makes no difference even with the mirror in a comfortable position

I only really want this for the reversing camera, is this worth getting just for that?

Thanks,
Tim

It's ok as a reversing camera. The screen is a touch on the small side to use the lines to line up the space etc but if your using it more to see where the bumper is in relation to posts/cars etc and avoid kids then it's decent enough for the price
Ordered thanks OP...have been a recent victim of false insurance claim..hope back camera helps avoid all that in future. I presume back camera only activates during revering the car and not all the time?

link, or iy didnt happen
I have this mirror , and I have noticed that Volvo has too big plastic behind regular mirror which is not allowing for camera to be positioned on good angle.
Have this dashcam and can certainly recommend at this price.
I've got this. Yet to install the reversing part (too little time, not enough desire) but the mirror part works very well. Slow to transfer videos via wifi though, better off taking out the SD card for that. The extra large rear view mirror takes getting used to but once you do, it's really nice to have.

Definitely recommended for the price.

if I don't want to use the rear camera for reversing (just for recording potential collisions) can I skip the whole hooking up to reverse light part as I have built in rev camera

Is it easy to install and hide any wires? Thinking of buying this as it seems a decent price..
bought something very similar for £10 less on amazon
amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

it has the same "wrong sided camera" ie configured for US roads however the camera lens can be moved and centralised so doesnt cause any issues.
good piece of kit.
Edit - looks like the one I have also has a 10% off voucher so £27 ... absolute bargain at that price. well worth having

Have you ticked the box that says ‘apply 39% voucher’ ?
Like it! Purchased.
Is this actually legal given that the screen pops up in the middle of the rear-view mirror? Although it's common knowledge that as long as you have two wing mirrors it is legal not to have a rear view mirror, this seems to have changed in 2010 according to this document. Here it suggests that if the car is designed to have a rear view mirror, then it must have a (presumably fully unobscured) rear view mirror as well as the two wing mirrors (second page of the document).

the screen is behind the glass of the mirror, the image in the mirror is more prominent that the screen, and the screen is only visible when you start reversing or if you touch the screen to interact

as a rear mirror is it as visible as real rear mirror? at night/ when rains for example?
is it easy to hide the cables or do you need it hard wired?
how do you install the reverse mirror? do you need to mess with cars wiring etc?
Should i get an sd card along with this?
Techmoan did a great review, as usual, on this type of thing and it looks worthless to me. Bad as a mirror, bad as a display.

Not voted though.

Fine as a real rear mirror. Added advantage of being larger. Easy to hide cables. You can wire the lead, for the reserve mirror into your reversing light, but I didn't bother and just manually switch to rear view.

You've got confused I think - you would get it for £39.64 if you have applied the voucher and go to checkout. The credit card offer is entirely separate and nothing to do with it.
Only showing discount of £21.12 at checkout. That's not 39% off.
True, that's why i didn't vote and hesitated to post. It seems likely to me that due to physics the same problems are going to occur to a greater or lesser degree in all these items. A greater degree if it's cheap, a lesser degree if it's expensive. This is cheap.

It's an opinion based on not experiencing the product though, so I could be well be very wrong.
I’m looking for a budget front and rear and this seems to tick all the boxes but I am concerned about the length of it being over 30cm, and being at the wrong angle to capture all the road. Looks like I’ve a decision to make.

Anyone got experience of a similar slimmer model that will put up with heat and last etc.

I like the idea of not having a branded nextbase on show feeling the need to take it out after each journey, which won’t happen and then I’ll end up with a smashed side window.

Very tempted for something like this. Does anyone know how good the mirror is at night when cars are following? My car has auto dimming.
I have had several similar mirrors to this, although they have all had Android and SatNav built in as well.

A few things to note.

They can be quite wide and may obstruct the movement of the sun visors.

Even if they have a camera that can extend further, if the camera is on the left then it can be partially obscured if your vehicle has a shaded (often black dotted) area on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror.

They often have a blue tint. However, despite having an auto dimming mirror, I have never had to make any adjustments. The tint obviously reduces dazzle, so I guess the image brightness must be reduced also.

great product got mine in November 18. Just took mine off as I got MOT tomorrow. Not used to the small car mirror now ahaha. Even though camera is on the left you can adjust it to make it view the middle of the screen.

Also have not sorted out my rear camera as I am not sure exactly how and didn't have the desire to do it. If someone did it for me I would like to have it but just can't be bothered at the moment.

May get one for wife but need to check how I can hide the cables on her car...

I have a Chinese one with camera on the left but it rotates so you can point it to the right. Caught a guy smashing into someone on purpose last week.
