Would this be any good for looking out for my dogs when I'm at work?

That's what we use ours for. Nothing better than the motion detector going off, turning on the app and watching our dogs rip up the mail.

Anyone knows what's the difference with respect to the more expensive Yi 3 version?

They are exactly the same. There is comparison of different versions at the end of listing. You can compare yourself and hence it makes this a wonderful choice

I bought one of these last December, worked great for nearly 6 months but now sometimes stops recording to the Micro SD card.
Tried a different card and does the the same a few days later, just stops recording.
Anyone else had the same problem and potentially a way to fix it.

Will probably still buy another though because they are good cameras

Had a similar issue but after about 2 years, but fixed it by replacing the SD card. Maybe try another if it wasn’t a brand new card?

Ok thanks, the other card I tried wasn't new but didn't have much use.
Got this for 12 quid delivered from Ali

Also avoid SanDisk ultra sd cards, I have Samsung endurance in all my cameras and even after 3 years they are all still perfect.

Had this with a previous yi cam, only a full reset got it to work again

Yes, you can view a 6 second clip for free when motion is detected.

Unlimited live viewing too.

Thanks that's not bad.
I have the ring subscription so don't wanna pay for two. But at this price these are very decent.

Read that a couple of weeks ago. Contradicted by their chart here, there are even more differences not listed in this other chart too from what I researched last night, lol ?

amazon.co.uk/YI-…4GF

Tracking this version for a couple of weeks with my email on ? and so bought.
I have the 1080p and 720p versions of these. Image quality is the same. They're good for the money so I've gathered six over the years. No failures so far

I was thinking this. I’ve had a camera or two go bad out of 20 or so but for the money still worth it. Be worth getting proper high endurance cards if possible.
Can these be run using a power bank/battery pack rather than mains? and if so, any recommendations for power supply? Thanks

Someone tried this and blogged about it, you can do it but might not get a long power on time depends on a number of factors though.

Sorry if a stupid question but does this need wifi to work ? If not how does it communicate with your phone ? We don’t have WiFi in our house for medical reasons and looking for a new camera to monitor child in bed. Thanks

It needs WiFi, that's how it sends data to the cloud. You need a wired IP camera otherwise.
Can you view SD card footage from the app or do you have to take the SD card out and put it into a computer?

Thanks OP, got one
Good camera, we use ours as a baby monitor (along with an audio monitor)
Is there any kind of privacy/ pause functionality for when you are home, or is it just a case of switching the camera off?

There’s a home and away option in the app but it seems to just stop notifications not turn the devices off. You can schedule motion detection or turn them off via the app but it’s a manual process.

I know what you mean and I don’t think these do it though. We have a Logitech Circle camera that has geofencing power off when your phone is at home but these don’t have functions like that.

Otherwise, they’re great cameras - though I do wonder how much WiFi bandwidth they are consuming sometimes...
They upgraded the app this weekend, and I’ve lost everything. Have emailed their support team to hope they can fix it. No idea why!
Frustrated that all these cams HAVE to use their apps now and aren’t just accessible by IP or browser.

Yep no problem - I had mine running from 2 different power banks for about 6 weeks in my shed to watch some birds nesting.

10,000mah will get you 24hrs, probs a bit longer.
These have recently save me a lot of hassle, I have 2 of them in my bedroom window looking out towards my motorbike. A van knocked over my parked motorbike and did a runner, luckily the van was sign written so I phoned them up to deal with it and I received £3,000 in damages. I've been using them for about 4 months now, I think they are good value for what they are

That’s great news but I imagine it was stressful.
£24.99 now. I’m guessing it’s still a good deal after reading the comments etc. Anyone?

Want sonething like this to know if my estranged wife comes back to the marital home to take stuff (joint/my possessions) when I’m at work.

You can pop the camera bit (black circle) out of the white stand so it's quite easy to conceal if you needed it for this. Good angle of vision too.
If you are recording someone without their knowledge, would you need to put a sign up warning them first? Especially if you wanted to use the evidence in court?
