I have a none working outside lamp I put my camera in. When I asked neighbour to spot the camera I had to point it out. He was looking for a camera fixed to the wall or something

Yes I saw that- but then it says only U.S available *
Good price though
non-PoE, 2,4 GHz only, and only 32 GB sd card, cold from me.
Think you'd be better off with a Reolink 4k from amazon, they are about the same price but support PoE etc

RLC 410 and 420 are currently £33 in the AliExpress sale. Absolute bargain.
Buying an outdoor security camera with a exposed cable hanging off the bottom is a really poor decision.

It's a really dumb design.

Most IP cams let you run the cable through the back of the camera leaving no cables exposed. That said if someone is going to cut the feed, it's probably too late.

I know, I have a couple with cables that run through the back.

This one however can't be.
You can install it either way as in the camera settings you can set whether the flip the image over. That way people can have the cable coming out from the rear top rather than bottom.
It doesn’t really matter much what plug it comes with is it’s usb powered with a standard usb end. It’s not hard wired into a us or eu power plug
I have a 64gb microSD card in mine. In settings I can see it’s recognised the whole card not just 32gb if it.

But a terrible deterrent.

Surely it's better for a thief to see the camera and be put off rather than not see it and break in.
What I have in that lamp is basically 100% better than before when there was nothing. One day I will do it properly and follow the excellent advice normally found in these threads

Any links please? I can't see them for that price.
Am thinking of getting a few cameras, do you have any quick tips?
Hi all, I am thinking of mounting this high up part of the house externally. How do you feed power to this externally? Need drill through brick wall somewhere with a power outlet? So a very long usb cable? Thanks

The cable on this is flat rather than round so you may find options to route the cable into the house via a window or door, assuming it will still close properly, without have to file a few millimetres for a tiny gap for the flat cable. You can drill a hole through the wall or you may find it easier to drill a hole through the wood or plastic window/door frame.. you can buy 2/3/4/5 etc meter usb extension cables. They won’t need to transfer data, just to pass on the 5v electricity supply from a usb outlet or plug

Does the glass in the outside lamp distort the image from the camera in daylight and infrared?

No it doesn’t it’s fine. You have to switch night vision off though, as though at night you can not see the infrared or whatever leds with the maked eye, they do show up being reflected back at the camera footage when behind a window - spoiling the footage otherwise.

It doesn't come with any plug 'fitted'. It comes with a USB cable fitted then a separate adapter in the box to fit the power outlet

Use the AliExpress app and search Reolink, I cant seem to get the link. I can't say I have any tips as I've been researching for a month or so for a new house build. I was going to go with Nest outdoors but I can't miss out on this price as the image quality will be superior. I've gone for 2 X 410's and 2 X 420's (dome variant) and after some coupons that were there, they've worked out less than £31 each, a bloody steal.

I will look into the NVR which is available for £155, at a later date.

Ultimately I've been swayed into Reolink due price and value and as I've intentions of having a few Amazon Fire tablets mounted around the house and these support RTSP, I'll be able to link them with Actiontiles for quick viewing around the house.
Don’t they have any battery operated in the Yi Brand?

It's 3m long with a USB plug on the end so you'll need a hole as big as a USB plug.
Had one of these for around a week. It's a good camera, app is great, but the bitrate of the video is too high so detail can be very poor. I'm hoping they address this in a future update as it's great otherwise. Night-time performance is good too.
I am actually looking for few wireless cameras for outdoors Arlo pro is too expensive

If you want a visual deterrent put one of those CCTV in use signs up.

I actually though about doing something very similar, either fitting a cheap camera module in an old PIR floodlight, or fitting a pan and tilt camera I had in a similar sort of lamp to the previous poster and possibly modify the PIR to trigger the module's alarm input.

Not only is it less obvious so that a thief is less likely to look down and cover his face, but can be mounted low enough to get a really good shot of his face instead of a pointless image of the top of a thief's head from a camera mounted high enough not to be smashed up.

My plan was to also mount a damaged CCTV dome several feet away with an IR board fitted in it to act as an IR illuminator.

I purchased a few Xiaomi ChuangMi cameras recently. I now want one that works outdoors. Ideally, I'd like to have everything under the MiHome app, but can't find anything by Xiaomi.

Daft queston... are Yi and Mi products produced by seperate companies?

They work on different apps unfortunately. The mi app is for the Xiaomi cameras, but these yi or xiaoyi use the Yi Home app.

No. Nothing has been released from Xioami as a outdoor cam. Xiaomi's former partner Xiaoyi, now known as Yi technology is the only one to release one as OP has posted. This is cheap atm.
