Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a wonderful place to see lots of different animals including England's only polar bear, tigers, lions, giraffes and loads more in a natural setting. Now First Bus are offering a combined bus and park entry ticket, so if you were going to travel there by bus within the South Yorkshire area, then its a no-brainer as you can now travel for free!

If you travel from Sheffield or Rotherham you can catch the X78 to Doncaster Frenchgate Interchange. This service runs every 10 mins Mon-Sat daytime. Please note though, that the X78 all the way from Sheffield takes nearly an hour and a half to get to Doncaster... however if saving money is more important to you than speed, then this is for you.

From Doncaster Interchange you get the 91 to Branton - the stop is just before Branton Post Office, you cross the road and go down Brockholes Lane. The 91 comes every 30 mins, and the journey from Doncaster takes about 23 mins. The park is about 5 mins walk from the bus stop.

Entry to Yorkshire Wildlife Park is £15.50 for adults, £12.50 for children aged 3-15 (and £13.50 for senior citizens but of course they travel on public transport for free anyway). You will save £5 for each adult and £2 for each child. I know people will say "its a great day out for kids" but please don't underestimate how much fun you will get out of it as an adult! Some of the animals are just naturally lazy, like the lions and tigers, but the squirrel monkeys, the marmosets, the baboons and the lemurs (well basically all the primates they have!) are so wonderful to watch, and they come out from their enclosures to play, and they are SO close because you are allowed to walk through specially designed enclosed areas so there is no barrier between you and the "safe" animals (e.g. wallabies, the lemurs, the capybara and the maras).

If, like us, you don't have access to your own transport and you live in the South Yorkshire area, please don't let that put you off - plan a trip to YWP, its brilliant!!

The LION bars are ok!

I think DGOD79 was meaning Rotherham is like a Wildlife Park, rather than the Wildlife Park is in Rotherham

Yeh would you take any kids to Rotherham?

They're making very clever, extremely funny jokes. Ha. Ha. Ha. Just ignore them and maybe they'll go away.:p
