Finally Amazon get their backside in gear.

The shopping behemoth has just announced that Prime Instant Video is coming to more Android tablets

You can now watch Amazon Prime Instant Video on your Android tablet

Step one: Download the Amazon Appstore on your Android tablet

Download Amazon's Appstore app here, the APK file will download onto your Android tablet. Pull down your notifications bar from the top of the screen and tap the notification that says the download is complete. Accept the terms and the Amazon app will be installed. Once you've got that locked down, look for the Amazon Prime Instant Video app via Amazon Appstore. So far, so good.

Note that I had to "authorise apps from unknown sources" to download Amazon's Appstore. You can do this in Settings > Security

Step two: Download the Amazon Instant Video app

Now Amazon's Appstore icon is showing on your tablet, tap it and look for the Prime Instant Video app. Download it and sign into your Amazon account.
If Amazon Instant Video doesn't start downloading automatically, you need to search for it and then select to install.

Step three: Stream away

Search and tap your chosen film and then 'Watch Now'. You'll be asked how you wish to open the video. Choose 'Instant Video' and your movie should begin to stream. Easy!

Excellent how to

yep great guide im sure it will help many

Nice one!!! hot from me, It has taken them long enough to stop it keep trying to log into the Usa site instead of the uk one. GREAT FIND !!!

About time Amazon.

I became an Amazon Instant customer by default via Lovefilm. They are light years behind other streaming services for product compatibility.

Good find OP and heat added.

Now if they can create a way to browse videos along the lines of what everybody else is doing, they'll be well on their way to having video streaming service.

is it all free?!!

it is if you have prime

how much is Prime?

How much is Prime? As it wants you to join Prime or watch trailer.

Erm, this was always possible? You just couldn't chomecast making it useless for people like me.

79 quid

Its great that you don't need to force the phone version of the app on a tablet. Thanks for the post.

Shame it costs £79 for prime

I noticed Prime Instant Video had support for Android a couple of days ago when I was looking to change settings for an iPad, but it states "Android Phones" so wasn't much use to me, and doesn't mention Android tablets under the Mobile Devices or tablets sections of the Amazon Instant Video Compatible Devices list. Has anyone managed to get it to work for an Android tablet please, as I have one I could use so it would be great if it works now?

Edit:
Looked on App Store and can see it states 'Android phones and tablets' so will give it a try!

This has been available since last year.also you don't have to pay £79 per year, they still offer the £5.99 per month sub but you don't get the full prime (next day delivery etc) just the prime instant video and you can cancel at any time.

I had a prime free 30 day trial previously. But it just gave me another one. So worth checking....... Can set it to not continue after 30 days straight away...... This gives the free next day delivery and instant video. Great for the school holidays.....

When you think about it, £79 is a pretty amazing deal for Amazon's video library and Prime delivery service. Especially considering Netflix costs £72.

P.s. We're sub'd to both services

if you pay 5.99 instead you're still paying £72 a year so may as well pay the extra £7 for the added prime benefits

I've been doing this for weeks...this isn't new

Yeah this has been available for a while now. It needs to add Chromecast support though

I always just used the browser version on my phone. Worked fine? :P
