Don't know how that get away with calling it 'Fish' pie as its got about 15% fish content.Would probably be better to call it 'Mash' pie but i guess that wouldn't sound as good .

why not you get fish fingers and chicken fingers and neither of them actually have fingers

More like fish scale pie.

cheap, but 75p permanently at Farmfoods, so hardly half price!

FIsh Guts Pie is probably more correct. I doubt theres mych 'real' fish in these...the 'fish' is basically the eyes, tail, head etc etc all mushed together - really doesnt bare thinking about.

Mmm, can't beat a Young Admirals' pie!
Oops!
I mean a Youngs Admiral's Pie

Heat

Is Admiral pie the good one with actual mash and fish? I know there are several. Fishermans pie. Captains pie etc... Sometimes I forget and get the Smash and trawler waste version.

They are ALL trawler waste....do you really think they take the best cut of cod and mash it up for fish pies???? of course they dont.

Last time I had one, they were proper pieces of fish. They appeared to be whole and not reformed. They could take a whole £40 Pollock and make 200 pies because there is so little so, yes it's feasible.

Isn't the difference between fish pie & admirals pie that the admirals pie has the grated cheese on top?

Glad there is a fish pie expert in the house:

Better call in the food police then as it looks like they are false advertising....The box says WILD ALASKAN POLLOCK FILLET pieces.

Do you really think they would put this on the box and fill it with trawler waste????? Of course they don't.

Looks like we have a very 'nieve' person in the house......who also must believe that when McDonalds state they use 100% pure beef in their burger, that they are getting 100% best cut fillet beef in their Big Mac!!!

Very short sighted indeed (have you never ever watched the multitude of programmes on TV that show exactly what goes into these things???..obviously not)

Also, i think we used the word "trawler waste" as a bit 'tongue in cheek' - you obviously didnt get it did you...we basically meant 'poor quality fish'....but maybe in future we need to spell everything out for some people.

100% pure beef is different to Fish fillet. a fish fillet is just that, one part of the fish..... '100% pure beef' can mean any bit of meat off a cow.

I'm not nieve, just know that a company can't put ingredients and advertise something that isn't in the product. I have watched many TV programmes on this...but this clearly states Pollock Fillet of which constitutes 15% of the pie. Putting anything different is unlawful and could see Young's facing prosecution.

Trawler waste and poor quality fish are 2 different things. You don't need top quality fillets in a pie the same as you don't need fillet steak in a steak pie, any old piece of steak will do...which is quite different to your comment which clearly states your take on trawler waste:

'FIsh Guts Pie is probably more correct. I doubt theres mych 'real' fish in these...the 'fish' is basically the eyes, tail, head etc etc all mushed together '
