Would you not be better just using 'normal' Youtube and not paying at all?
What student ID is needed for this? Do they take the NUS card that most of us have on here? (Cant click and find out as already paying for family package)

YouTube Student Membership Eligibility
In order to sign up for a YouTube student membership, you must:

  • Be enrolled as a student at a higher education institution in a location where YouTube student memberships are offered and that has been approved by SheerID. A higher education institution is a post-secondary institution that is certified/accredited by its respective government to issue degrees or diplomas. The eligibility of the institution is determined by SheerID. To check if your college or university has student plans available:
  • Visit the Student Plan landing page for YouTube Premium or YouTube Music.
  • Select Get Student Plan.
  • Type in your institution on the SheerID form. If your institution appears then student plans are available.
  • Be verified as a student by SheerID. For help with the verification process, email SheerID at customerservice@sheerid.com.
If you meet all the eligibility requirements for a membership, you will be eligible for up to four years of student membership. You will be required to re-verify your eligibility every year.

More details here.

I'm sure spotify amazon and apple are cheaper with more content for students? But also why do students need a better deal? Shouldn't they be learning instead of listening to music?

Just use a VPN to connect to an Indian Server. Clear your browser settings. Then sign in to YouTube and go to upgrade to YouTube premium.

When there it should display the price in Indian Rupees (around 119 if I remember right).

Then use a fee free card to sign up using an Indian address. I used a hotel in Mumbai.

For a fee free card I used Monzo. Here is a sign up link if needed. For full disclosure if you use it I get a free £5 and you'll get £5 also.

join.monzo.com/r/x…bok

I did this all on a PC, so I'm not 100% if it's the same through the apps.

Once signed up. No need to use the VPN.

That's great thanks. I'd be doing it on my phone? Where do I get a VPN? I'm new to this I was thinking about getting a monzo card for overseas so will use your link no problem!
I use Private Internet Access for mine. Got to be honest though. I didn't shop around, I've had this VPN for years (If it ain't broke). So there may be better options out there.

I don't think this answers the question, sadly. Has anyone successfully been verified using one of the online courses people use for NUS cards here (e-careers and so on)?
