Won't be for everyone as this is a high end box with Rockchip's flagship rk3399 Dual Cortex-A72 + Quad Cortex-A53 64-bit CPU, (2X 2.0 GHz and 4 X 1.44GHz).

Using the code GBYDY8 see this the cheapest it has been so far.

One of the few boxes with a usb3 connection.

Fairly indepth review here.

Some impressive specs but it's only really useful if you plan to use it as a gaming machine as well as a media centre.

Having 4gb of ram would mean it could run almost anything on the play store very nicely so maybe if you got a decent bluetooth joypad on top, it could be an all in one solution.

Does this come 'fully loaded' with Kodi? X)

I was very tempted but apparently after looking at the reviews on Youtube the optical out does not actually work so no Dolby Digital.....shame at this price and spec.

Yeah, I had read that as well. Initial reviews say the firmware has a few bugs but nothing major other than what you mentioned. They released a firmware update right at the end of April and I have not yet heard or seen what difference that makes. The chip is new and there are only a couple of boxes with this chip in it so it is not that well supported by the 'developer' community at the moment. I think that will change though given the power this thing has.

Yeah I did read about the possible update, could you just use an external sound card in one of the USB slots (not sure about android compatibility) I use one of the hexagonal Zedo T95Z boxes which is excellent but I'm always looking to upgrade.....been thinking about the Nvidia Shield boxes but they are a tad costly

I've got a s912 box and it's speed is excellent compared to other chips. I'm just interested to see what this box can do as it wipes the board on all the diagnostic tests compared with anything else in its price range. If it can run Disney Infinity then the kids will be delighted if nothing else.

A wee update for anyone who was thinking of buying this box:
Had the box for a day and while its power and speed is amazing, the firmware is the worst I have came across in 10yrs of using android boxes. The amount of bugs on it is staggering. Problems with audio repoduction, video playback, app compatibility, missing settings and more. Hopefully there will be a new firmware release that will fix the bugs, many of which are pretty major. You live and learn.

It will always be buggy, there's a reason most people get AMLogic boxes (although the S912 was a bit of a let down software wise). Rockchip and Mediatek is buggy junk and should be avoided, hence most the deals going cold.

There is nothing wrong with the RK3399. It is a powerful and capable chip. It is the firmware on this box that is the problem.

Yes and all Rockchip/Mediatek devices have buggy firmware which is never fixed, they just move on and release new buggy junk.

So nearly bought one but went for an Nvidia Shield instead, word of warning all that glitters is most definitely not gold I'm having to send it back after 4 days faulty......I know some people have a moan at the Chinese boxes but I've never had an issue with any!!
