very good price. Add a gig of ram and would be quite quick.

I bought several of these early last year from (ebuyer) ideal for office machines, very quiet and reliable. Add a nice looking burner and card reader to improve the appearence for the more fussy buyer lol.

Now theres a suprise. Crackin deal if you can get hold of 1

allow celeron man....

Been out of the buying game for a while and when I left it, there was AMD XP's v's Intels P4 series.

Whats with the celeron badge and how does it equate, (speed etc), to the AMD x2's Quads etc?

As I recall the celeron was slower than both the 3.2 semperon and 3.2 athlon XP.

The pentium 4HT s beat the AMDs rated at the same speed - which in turn beat the non HT pentium 4.

They are obviously slower than the later x2s and quads etc, but its running ubuntu which uses less resources and is faster and more stable than windows - so you are unlikely to notice much difference - the only downside being its unlikely windows games will run well using the ubuntu wine windows emulator.

Heat and rep given for the original deal.

Ironically, a higher speed Celeron means a complete no no sine it is based on the older P4 architecture. The newer ones including the dual core E1000/E1200 are based on the Core architecture which run faster, cooler and cost less.

i have just seen the same one under a different code at a higher price. it is30498 quick code and is priced at £129.95 plus vat at £152.69, then there's deilvery

Good price for what is a basic starter kit, the celerons are the cheaper cut downs of the intel range but for a home pc with mild gaming its a good pc.

Celeron's are good IMO. Especially at this price.

not a great deal for meeeeeee

Quite good for the price - voted hot.

However, if anyone would rather have a dual-core CPU, 2GB RAM & Windows XP/Vista, you could go for this ]Dell Vostro 200 MT for £188 delivered / £184 with 4% Quidco.

The spec/price on that Dell makes this deal look run of the mill at best. This machine is lower cost, but better value for money? Not in my book.

There's no argument about what's the best value here....

People on a low budget & with basic computing needs (includes the elderly, little children, etc) will find this quite satisfactory. 2-3 years ago I was using a Celeron 600Mhz PC with Win98se & it did all I asked of it.

The best value isn't always/necessarily the most important thing to look for when purchasing anything ;-). In this day & age of spiralling debt, needs & budget come first I feel.
