Do you guys get a lot of buffering when you watch live sports? Mines so bad I've stopped watching it for sports (I've got excellent internet connection) because it's very annoying.

The buffering is down to the quality of the stream and the numbers trying to watch. I use infusum.tv and it is excellent. I pay £12 a month.
Anyone able to post some decent links to what these boxes are capable of and how to tinker with them etc? Would be much appreciated
There was decent advice posted on Kodi forums about witch Android (or any other media) boxes to choose - one of the 'golden rules' advice is to pick a "device that will have ongoing Firmware support direct from a manufacturer that actually knows what they are doing, ones you can TRUST. These come from Intel, Zotac, HP, Google, NVIDIA, MINIX, Wetek, HardKernel and the Raspberry Pi Foundation." .. "Nearly all of the Android / clone boxes coming out of Asia should be considered rubbish as there is no Firmware support given after purchase, and important Kodi features like properly synced 23.976/59.94Hz video output and dynamic refresh rate switching is missing. "

Boxes are cheap as £22 going over £100 - pick a decent one.

Not true, i have a preorder for the ZIDOO X6 pro and they have a very good reputation for regular updates to their TV boxes but its true of most cheap boxes like the one posted, It also the first box to be able to be turned off or into standby. people buy for specs alone and when they dont work right their stuck with junk. Do yourself a favour and buy a decent box, i know they cost more but it will be worth it these cheap ones are crap.

I also have a Nvidia Shield and thats not without faults as it cant pass HD audio over to the amp and for me thats really bad so even the big names have issues but their will be a fix at some point but the X6 has a custom Kodi which does pass HD over so that shows its been worked on before release.

The Amlogic S80x devices were supported by the manufacturer for over a year (which is all you're going to get from the like of Intel anyway) -- the key is to get something that supported by communities as these guys are the ones who can really get the best out of the hardware.

That is more a function of whether the chipset manufacturers are prepared to work with third parties -- and (some of) the Chinese (Taiwanese actually in most cases) have a better record on this than the like of HP and Intel.

If you think any manufacturer is going to support a cheap TV box two years down the line you're hopelessly naive.
Nice spec and price. For those who like the Windows variety I have one of these and works a treat ebay.co.uk/itm…675
As previously stated, streaming live sports even with fibre can be problematic because of the number of viewers....I would like to add my tuppence worth and suggest even a cheaper android box ( mxq for about £26) to test the waters...as regards upgrades etc etc....I wouldn't worry too much, if you can put apps on your phone you can put apps on your box....do a search for Wookie wizard it automatically installs all the top features you need and every time you start up it checks for updates etc, best option and, if after you tried and liked you can opt for a box with 2gb ram....mite help solve buffering a bit

Not same chipset and if you enter the correct chipset into amazon you don't get anywhere near this price

Ive got a q7 with the rk3188 and its very creaky now, I think the chipset is about 2 or 3 years old.

Will definitely be interesting to see if has play store as in description on geekbuying it States

Apps download freely form Android market ,amazon app store etc .
Medium Local Media playback, support HDD, U disck, SD card
Support SKYPE video call, MSN, facebook, twitter, QQ etc.
Support wifi hotpiont, could be as a wireless router
Support XBMC, Email, Office suit etc.
If you are going to go along the RK3368 route at the moment then I would tend to avoid noname boxes like this in favour of something like the Zidoo X6 that will have far better support, especially for Kodi, where they have developed their own custom Kodi for better audio pass through and 3D.

ROM's between devices can sometimes be interchangeable but there are often problems.

It may be a few bucks cheaper than the others but I'd consider spending the extra for the support that you will get.
