I wonder two things:

1 - Can Windows be replaced with Kodi/Linux with Plex?
2 - In relation to point 1, how would the Atom X5 compare to the AmLogic S9XX SOCs?

Z8350 is able to play fully fledged PC games S9XX not a chance.

But 2GB ram is sufficient for only most games over 7 years except GTA4 and a few others.

Don’t think m0nk3h was asking about games.
1 - You need an OS to run Kodi / Plex and both can run on Windows. I don’t know if Linux will run on this or not. You may need to check forums.
I suspect the Atom is faster, but with windows overhead, I would say the S9xx would be “snappier” if android based - (are you taking S9XX with Linux or Android?).

Is the memory upgradable

At a guess I would highly doubt it, looking at this Youtube video confirms this.

Unlikely, but I don’t know.
I’m not sure it is really worth upgrading the memory in this even if you could. It is quite a slow processor for windows and will only cope with fairly basic tasks, but would be fine for Office / web browsing / watching videos etc.
The processor is equivalent to a 9 year old desk top PC CPU
Still - a decent price for a perfectly usable basic PC.

nah, 2gb can barely run a web browser nowadays, not upgradeable is it? if it came with 4gb this might be a nice desktop replacement (or laptop replacement in this case).

Run OpenELEC or LibreELEC

Might make a decent Pfsense box.

I wouldn't look at gaming on this anyway, it was purely to gauge whether it'd be good as a media centre...

If it's 64bit and 4GB RAM no question but 2GB I've got a z8300 and that has 4GB I believe and it's good enough it's more down to the wireless chipset if you plan to stream.

It has ethernet and an internal USB (to add WiFi) so options to maintain a good connection.

Cenovo mini PC is better. Got it for less than £60 few years back and have it for over 2 years, still works pretty well. It has similar spec to this (2GB ram 32GB storage) but even better it can dual boot android <-> Win10 rather than Win10 <-> Linux.

Can even play games as well, GTA San andreas and Vice City on windows work just exactly like 10 years ago.

Edit: I think Cenovo mini PC production is dead.

Thanks OP. Heat added for the spot and a decent price, but I'm also sceptical about that 2GB. The search continues...

But really with a good network chipset you don't need the extra expense. It's all too frequent in my experience with these windows tablet and boxes from China and even big brands too with wifi chipset problems.
