You do get a 5year warranty with the Sammy.

yes, they are a well known and reliable brand.

Only 1 year warranty

This washer seems to be the same price on lots of other websites

A+++ for energy but only B rated for spinning - 1400rpm isn't that great.

You may save a bit of energy in the wash cycle but you'll lose it when drying as your clothes won't come at the dryer as dry as they could with a decent spinner.

I'll stick to my overpriced Miele X)

Its not though!

Avoid Zanussi - buy Miele for a washing machine, you'll have it for 20+ years.

Unless you're looking for a temporary machine that will last approx 5 yrs.

Great deal, good size drum, ordered with TENNEROFF and TCB tracked at £7.03, so if cashback is successful = £261.97

Both Boots Domestic Appliances and Next Domestic Appliances ARE AO.com. I't in the small print on both web sites; no coincidence.

I've had my Zanussi for 25 years and only had one small water leak from it that I was able to sort out myself. Although, I think that today's appliances across the board aren't engineered like they used to be and any modern washing machine is likely to have a shorter lifespan than it's predecessors. I also only use it once a week typically.

Miele are good but pricey and I am not sure that the extra cost would necessarily be guaranteed to be outweighed by it's longevity. It used to be that Miele put steel jackets around their drums whenever everyone else was using cheaper concrete ones and that gave the drum better balance. I don't know what the situation is nowadays.

I have a Miele cylinder vacuum cleaner which I reckons out-performs every other domestic cylinder cleaner but it has had some reliability problems, so I am not an acolyte of the brand.

There are two angles to this one.

Zanussi was a quality appliance manufacturer with a great reputation. They had many happy owners, including myself. Then they got bought out by Electrolux.

Initially the change of ownership didn't do much, but slowly the big E started merging the sales and manufacturing operations. The product quality went down, as did after-sales and support.

People often make claims about "they don't make them like they used to" and it's true. They aren't made by the same people or in the same factory. Very few appliance manufacturers have remained unchanged over the years and many different brands are all made in the same factory under the same parent company. Zanussi & Electrolux are one and the same, as are Whirlpool/Indesit/Hotpoint/Ariston/Polar/KitchenAid. Also Siemens/Bosch/Neff, all the same owner.

Miele is a little different. It's owned by Miele. They also own Miele. Just one brand, one great reputation. Longer life, better reliability, better warranties.

To clarify the story above, in a washer you have the inner spinning drum in which you put your clothes and another drum outside that which holds the water. Most manufacturers switched the outer drum to plastic, to reduce cost. But this made the machine to light and prone to wobble during the spin cycle. So they put a lump of concrete in the bottom of the machine. Miele just continue to make their outer drum out of steel. No artificial weight required.

AO's Black Friday showing has been really poor. Half the machines have been cheaper before outside of the sales.

E.g. this Beko was £189 only a week ago hotukdeals.com/dea…618. They then put it up to £279 so they could reduce it down to £219 today. Sale of the century.

Retailers really do take us for mugs.

Has it gone up in price?
