Heat added just because it’s Zelda
This game was ok on the console due to the poorly implemented weapons durability, nothing drags you out of the game like having to pause mid battle to fumble with the D-Pad to change weapon, but play it via a emulator on the PC with the weapons durability fixed and tweaked and it became just amazing, i finished it on the PC and never touched it on the Wii and it still sits there unloved, one of those games that when you see it on better hardware you wish it was not locked to one system.

Any praise is totally warranted, the game is up there as one of my all my top games of all time. Stole many hours of my life, anyway...

To anyone who has purchased this expansion, is it worth it? Thanks...

Its OK. There's trials to upgrade the master sword. A little bit like that island where you get all your equipment taken and you have to perform various challenges - similar thing. Didn't play the other bit tho. Was planning a replay as its been a while.
I'm about three quarters through the main game at the moment. Is it worth getting this now or finishing the game first then getting it later?

Get it now. The additions will help (stronger master sword (after allot of work), you get a bike as a alternative to the horse.

That sounds excellent. I don't really know what they were thinking with weapon's durability. It's a fantastic game overall, but the balance of durability is all wrong. I've had to change weapons multiple times in a skirmish because weapons keep breaking. It's very micro-managementy for a game that is otherwise quite breathtaking in ambition and scope and scale.

Agreed, currently playing Zelda Twilight Princess, it's meh to say the least. I'll give wind waker a go next see if that's any good

Each to their own of course but the more I play Twilight Princess, the better it seems to get for me. Fourth time I have played through it now, although it probably didn't help my first experience with it was on the Wii with the dodgy motion controls.

Nah, not worth its.not for £15 imo. dont expect anything new or big. its basically just some items and challenge mission/shrine. just youtube the few short extra cutscene

Don't get me wrong I thought it was good. But with certain IP an 8/10 game automatically becomes 10/10.

Unfortunately for me the only other Zelda game on Switch is one I completed many times on Gameboy all those years ago so I'm awaiting Ninty to pull their finger out
I put many hours into this game, and I particularly loved the fact it throws you in the world and just let's you explore. No 1hr hand holding tutorial or arrows saying which route to take.

The game is just a joy to explore. I just wish there were more real dungeons or deep caves in those many mountains on the map.

I personally think the weapon durability is fine, makes you think about what to use and when, adding a bit of strategy to the mix instead of it becoming a hack n slash.

Completely agree, that and the food are the main reasons I haven’t been bothered completing it. Not because of the effort, but because it’s just pointless effort, puts me off and makes it feel like a slog.

Yeap, it was very poorly implemented into the game and would just drag you out of intense battle totally ruining the immersion, but it is not until you try it on the emulator CEMU and install the weapon mod, some texture mods, and some classic weapons that the game becomes 11/10.........and if you have a mid range Pc you should really give it a go with say the total conversion mod, which is just jaw dropping, basically BOTW but if played on a Switch Mk5....check YT for BOTW Total conversion mod, it really is stunning to play.

But i cannot emphise just how much modders have vastly improved this game in every way, some talented people out there in the modding world.

Didn't realy rate the expansion pass for this game. Most of the actual content is just retreads and reworkings of things from the main game.
I loved Breath of the Wild. Spent over 400hrs with the main game, but the master trials are a lesson in utter hatred, just to upgrade your sword a bit. And the Champions Ballad was okay, just not very long. I paid £12 for this around a year or so ago & felt pretty ripped off tbh. If it was £5, then great, but seeing as it's never going to be that price...
0.29p saving... is that what constitutes a hot deal these days... 'kin hell!

Really?
Where is the hot stuff?

I'm not sure "strategy" is the right word when the durability is so ridiculously low. For me it was always "use the weakest weapon as you don't know if you'll need the strong soon and what you'll get next".

Dark Souls series did durability really well, and they had a few different tweaks to the system throughout the games. The durability is not a bad mechanic by any means, just poorly used in this game IMO and considering Ninty haven't rebalanced it with a patch they obviously think it's perfect just the way it is - which for me doesnt bode well for BOTW2 (or whatever actually comes next).

Anyway, on topic. The DLC doesnt add loads, but IMO worth having if you're liking the game and intend to complete (ie get all the shrines and collectables, not just finish the story).

Yeap, Dark souls and State of decay got weapon duribilty spot on, but ninty seems to have decided to throw in WD as a filler rather than a integrated mechanic that adds to the game, when all it does is drag you out of the game, but as i said, anyone who wants to really play BOTW and see what it could have been, needs to fire up CEMU, it takes a good game and makes it a actual 10/10, and i mean a 10/10, and not the 10/10 gaming sites slap on everything these days because they don't want to annoy Ninty, Sony or MS, modders have not only fixed BOTW and tweacked it to perfection, but added to it, something Ninty seems to not care about anymore, seal of quality gone the way of the DoDo with ninty. lol

^^If you have only played the game on the console then forget it, on the pc via cemu with the weapons fixed and the total conversion mod, that is the real BOTW, as it should have been when it was not hampered by weak hardware and optimised, plus there are tons of other mods for the game which just add more and more to the game, so you shouod really give it a go.
