Zelda: Four Swords free for 3DS and DSi gamers from 3DS eShop

UPDATE: THIS IS LIVE NOW ! (28 SEPT) Enjoy!
I've just downloaded it from the Nintendo Dsi shop on my Dsi.
It has a single player and multiplayer option.
Single-Player Mode
In the single-player mode, you control two Links. Switch which Link is active by pressing the L and R Buttons, or call the other Link to your side by pressing the X Button, to safely move around together solving puzzles and avoiding traps.

Multiplayer Mode
To enjoy the game with 2 - 4 players, each player needs their own Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi XL or Nintendo DSi system with the software downloaded to the system memory.

3DS and DSi gamers will be offered Game Boy Advance adventure Zelda: Four Swords for free in September, Nintendo has announced.

The multiplayer-focused game is being re-released without charge as part of this year's ongoing 25th Zelda Anniversary celebrations.
Nintendo are re-packaging it as DSiWare, meaning it'll be available to DSi gamers as well as to 3DS owners through the handheld's eShop.
Four Swords was initially released as a multiplayer add-on to the GBA re-make of A Link to the Past. This concept was later beefed out into a full game - The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure - for GameCube.

Of course this is HOT!

super HOT

uber hot

Hot! They're probably feeling extra sorry for us early adopters with 3DS deals popping up at sub £100 with cashback/voucher deals.

Probably not feeling sorry, more concerned that any early adopters will start to feel certain emotions that could result in fewer or no further sales in terms of games or future platforms, which will affect their profits.

Just saying, this is a business, not some empathetic human being.

Plus, they will feel less concerned because as an early adopter into anything, you willingly take the risks associated with a product. Even if you do not accept it, by buying early in a product lifecycle you take that risk.

Be nice if they let us know WHEN though, lol.
September is quite a few days long

This was announced at E3 as part of the Zelda 25th Anniversary, it has nothing to do with them feeling sorry for 3DS early adopters, even DSI owners are getting iot for free.

Great game though can't wait to play it again.

How likely is this to support on-line play?

Nice. Voted.....H...O....T...

Obviously but its a mutual benefit to both parties.

Almost turned my 3DS on then. You sly devil. Will leave it to gather just bit more dust.

I think you got it wrong. I was confused and thought it was part of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador freebies, but if DSi owners are getting it as well then it must mean all 3DS owners (even recent ones) will get it too.

How is this a deal lol? No details other than it's going to happen next month, which isn't now. Can I pre-emptively post £5 game deals on their release?!

Not trying to sound harsh, I just don't understand how this is a deal on here :s

This is definitely up too early. It doesn't even have a solid release date yet, just some time in September.
Still, can't wait, had a lot of fun on the original GBA release - hoping this will be online.

Not quite, all of Nintendo's consoles are getting a Zelda game this year, this one is actually the DSi one (3DS got Ocarina of Time, Wii gets Skyward Sword) it just happens to be that the 3DS can play DSi games.

it isn't a deal that's why it is in the freebie section !!

Can this be got for the ds lite?

Cannot wait

Until Nintendo issue an update to their previous press release I wouldn't bother checking again.

They are not going to make the game available without advertising the fact it exists.

Don't forget that three weeks are still to come in September after today has finished! :).

BFN,

Update it has been announced that the download will be available from Sept 28 th :

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Zelda series, Nintendo will be releasing The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords free of charge. The game will be available to download starting on September 28th for the Nintendo DSi and 3DS. [Update: According to the press release, the download will only be available until February 20th, 2012.]

The downloadable version of The Four Swords is not just a port of the Gameboy Advanced title. New stages from Link’s past have been added to the game. Nintendo also added a single player mode, which is a feature the original title was missing.

My 14 year old daughter is patiently waiting for the 28th now, she has tried looking for it on the shop every day of September lol.

Got to be hot if it's free.
