The RTD1295 didn't quite take off as well as hoped due to Realtek's closed sources policy, which has resulted in a lack of really decent firmwares.

Zidoo, despite their claims, do not support this as well as they should do.
Sure they provide new firmware but it's often a case of 1 problem fixed but another created with them and as soon as they bring out another model, support for anything existing drops like a stone.

Their products are also more expensive.

Whilst the RTD1295 is still very competent, especially with the dual HDMI recording options, the Beelink SEA I and Xnano X5 are much cheaper and will do the same job. The Beelink also has an internal drive bay slot.

If you don't need the recording function of high end Dolby support then there are better options with more community support.

Just don't expect much from the firmware improvement front for any of these though. Beelink as even worse when it comes to providing adequate support for their products.

Mine has arrived yesterday (Geekbuying was in China National Day holiday from 1st to 4th October, so the parcel was actually sent on 5th), just quick checked with some BDISOs, works perfect, not tried HDMI INPUT yet, may do that when my PS4 returns. Poster wall works perfect as well. They also provides a custom Kodi: zidoo.tv/Sup…tml, although I didn't find any differences :P

I don't like the remote control, it's ugly and only has very basic functions, with that you can make jobs done but you need to press a lot of buttons and takes a lot of time and it doesn't have backlit, which makes the situation even worse. Actually Zidoo does have an advanced remote control on their online store but they decide to sell it separately. For high-end model like X9S I'm a bit disappointed they didn't put the better remote in the box.

Pros:
Performance
OpenWRT

Cons:
Cheap remote
Bulky and ugly design(I just removed the antenna and use cable to make it less significant)

I'm not going to try those brands, simply because zidoo has a pretty good support team and their engineers are active on their official fourm, every posts I have seen are answered properly and quickly.
But now I realized maybe the X9S is a bit overpowered for me, I don't need SATA port for large harddisks (Already have a NAS), unless I start podcasting my PS4 gameplay and record them for uploading, the HDMI input is not necessary too. Maybe X8 is enough for me, at the moment. People always pay extra money for things they never need, right?

You only have to look around the Zidoo forums to see that their support just isn't up to scratch.

Geekbuying, Zidoo and Tronsmart are also essentially the same as they are all operated by the same parent company.

Sadly the RTD1295 just hasn't lived up to it's potential.
