Found 20th May 2010
I went into Tesco tonight in Glasgow St Rollox and noticed they had Zip Soot reducer reduced to an unbelievable 1p.The shelf edge price was 58p which is cheap enough as it usually sells for around £3.50 for a pack of 10 sachets,but scanned at the till for 1p. I sent my daughter back to the isle to get some more!.
This stuff is the ideal treatment for preventing the build up of soot and creosote in chimneys. It improves and maintains flue efficiency and helps prevent chimney fires.
Ideal for wood burning stoves,although as an ex Firefighter I cannot recommend enough that you should have your chimney swept a couple of times a year.
zipfires.com/ie/…ot/ site says;

Improves and maintains fuel efficiency and helps prevent chimney fires
For open fires, stoves and solid-fuel fires

Lol I forgot to bring it!

I don't think it works. If you want to clean your chimney use a brush and time to time have a good raging fire. Either your chimney will get clean or your house will burn down - kill or cure.

Its not a chimney cleaner it's a soot reducer.

Used in conjunction with a brush this is superb. We have a woodburner which is lit most of the winter, come April i get the brushes out and fill the house with soot. I also use this stuff during the remainder of the year when the fire is not lit so much and it prevents the largest part of the soot buildup during those times, (not advisable for a modern house as it does release a lot of sparks!).
Great price, will have a look in Tescos Thirsk later. Thanks OP.
