What's the difference between a Hippo and a Zippo?

A Hippo is a big heavy beast whilst a Zippo is a little lighter.

Only worthwhile if you are going to use it daily. If you leave it for any …Only worthwhile if you are going to use it daily. If you leave it for any length of time the fuel will have evaporated away and it won’t work.

Useful tip... If you leave your zippo for lengthy amounts of time. buy a cheap bicycle inner tube or cut up a punctured one if you have it laying around and cut a small section of it and squeeze it over your zippo like this...

You can of course, cut a bigger section off if you wish...

It will help slow down the evaporation of the lighter fuel. But of course its a little more faff when it comes to needing to use the lighter as you'll need to roll it down to flip the lid.

I want to buy a zippo, but i dont smoke so i have no idea what id use it for apart from helping lighter fluid evaporate if i got one.

That's the idea, yes, though you do have to shield it slightly
Handy to have for getting out of tight spots.

I often wondered why Zippo have never ever come up with any sort of idea to seal these lids once shut.
Your idea is really good if you don't use it that often.
I have seen them cheaper on Amazon and on eBay.
I've always liked them, but never smoked or had need of one
You don't have to smoke to own one you know..
I'll stick with my West Ham gas lighter, it gets me in and out of enough trouble.
Never liked the smell of these and moreover the way it colours the taste of the first draw in.

yeah I know but I don't light many fires either ....it would probably end up at the bottom of the man draw and there is plenty there already!
deagostini did a zippo collection. part 1 with Florentine markings 4.99 incl delivery. Doesn't seem to still be available.

Indeed. Surprising how quickly the fuel evaporates. Same issue with the Zippo heaters too.

Do people still smoke??

Fortunately for the government yes, the billions in tax raised would be sorely missed.
Nice lighter, can't beat a Zippo

Yes I've always found that smokers really appreciate someone telling them that sort of thing although you sometimes find you get a punch on the nose, well my wife did anyway when I reminded her for the first and only time.

Any smoker can try punching me on the nose. I'll just bob and weave for 1 min until there out of breath and then just laugh at them

Do you drink alcohol?
£13.11 on amazon prime.
I'm buying a few of these, so that if I want to set fire to a boat, room, barn etc. I can toss the zippo in, like they do on films.
I'm doing an unofficial count of how many times a poor zippo is lobbed to start a fire, when they could just use the zippo to light a bit of paper and throw that into the petrol-soaked room.

On an unrelated topic, my wife won't watch films with me anymore.
