This is what it should have been like when these players came out. But instead they charge crazy prices like they are deliberately trying to destroy physical media!

If they did that, they would have to recoup the money spent on developing new hardware through the movies themselves, so an extra fiver on top of the crazy £25 RRP
I could be wrong, but sales of 4K players and movies has been good considering streaming is taking over

Xbox is an awful Blu-ray player, I made this mistake. There's know audio and video sync issues for Atmos that still aren't fixed and it's sounds like a jet engine spinning the disc up

From what i heard its not good. Streaming is taking over. Currys said that sales of standard bluray players have generally gone so they won't stock them anymore soon. Uhd disks are actually expensive for what they are and not in a lot of peoples reach. They have compared streaming quality vs netflix and uhd disk and found very minimal difference in quality. Of course if your an hardcore av person then physical media will always be first preference.

It is in Europe. People love physical media. Americans are lazy and want it all streamed even though it’s far inferior

If your only ever going to spin discs then go for a standalone player....
Hot these are a lot quieter ca gaming consoles, it’s really 9 films as the ghostbusters ones is just dire !

An avid 4K player addict !

Whoever “they” are, I think a drive to Barnard Castle may be needed for them.

Might be worth adding “Panasonic DP-UB150EB“ in the title or description to attract more heat, just a suggestion
NB. No Dolby vision

I've got both

The xbox works fine but is slower to start. I didn't have any of the issues that people have reported
It has Dolby vision, but only for Netflix and has exclusions

I bought a dedicated player later because it was £84 with Dolby vision (Sony Center refurb).

I'd be reluctant to buy an xbox now given that the replacement is around the corner, but from a usability point of view I'd be happy with either

It’s not just America, most people prefer the convenience and practicality of streaming over physical media. Nothing really to do with laziness.
I know that everyone has their own tastes in film so this might be a bargain to some, but that is a shocking selection of movies. You could get the machine for £130 and use the extra £55 to buy five or six other 4k movies instead.

And a trip to Specsavers on the way, and possibly a fitting for a hearing aid.

I’ve got an xbox s, doesn’t really get used so was thinking this would get some use from it. Recently upgraded a few films but want to upgrade my sound system too. Something Dolby Atmos compatible ideally. Many thanks !

That's expensive when you consider how much online streaming is and the variety you get now. This is why they keep prices up cos people think its fine! I think people are getting ripped of considering the mastering on a lot of the uhd 4k discs are not that much better then bluray. Apart from hdr. This is just my opinion

You have no clue what you’re talking about. I’ve got a good quality Sony 4K player and some of the best looking 4K discs, the difference in quality over Netflix is obvious to see.

There are people online that have compared dolby vision stuff on netflix and shown examples. There isn't much difference. Compression online is advancing. It's just my opinion. I had uhd set up but got rid of it. Fed up of being ripped of.

There's a big difference and that is fact.

Not to mention streaming bitrates being choked right now.

You get what you pay for...

At the moment streaming is terrible. 7.5 megabits max. But when normal it's just over 15mbps. For me it's clean enough 🏻

I put max settings on netflix. Lot of people aren't aware of it. Bluray is very close to 4k uhd discs. Only slightly better colors and minimal sharpness apart from hdr content of course. That's why I no longer bother with it. But at the moment that's the highest quality you can get so no other option. Dvd to bluray was huge jump. But this isn't in my opinion. 8k will be but God knows how long that will take. Maybe 2040!

Its not! I have quite a lot of 4K discs and a lot of blu-rays. But dont take my word for the difference...all too obvious if you have the right equipment.
