Nice little portable mic for recording on the road interviews, music and anything else you can point it towards.

Picked one of these up myself the other week (for about £30 more) and i'm very happy with it so far.

Do this record direct to MP3 or does it have to be converted vua the supplied software?
Great device, might want to get the extras kit from China too. There are newer models you may want to check against this
You could buy a smartphone for much less, it would do far more than this device.
how do you justify the price-premium?

I'm guessing it has better sound recording and noise cancellation options than on a normal phone like when people by dslr cameras for better quality photos probably for the more professional/hobby recorders.

This is what is holding me back from buying the Zoom. I use a recording app and have a stereo Mic on my phone. I like the compactness of the Zoom but don't know if that is any advantage over my present setup.

Yep it can record in MP3 or wav
For anyone hesitating, the quality of this thing is brilliant. With a bit of tweaking in Cubase etc it's as good as studio quality. Even without tweaking, it really does sound immense. Comparisons with smartphones just aren't at all relevant - the clarity is much better, as is the balance of EQ. I would honestly recommend this massively. Had it for just under a year and got a lot of use recording piano, guitar and singing. Heat added!

I should add that prior to this all my live recordings were done on a smartphone, so I do have this as a comparison. Look up on YouTube to hear examples of what people can do with this.

So it's one step from recording on your smartphone to studio quality? I think your review might be more realistic if it said "better quality than a smartphone". There are many levels (pun intended ) between smartphone quality and true studio quality
I have used this for multiple music projects. The quality is amazing and way better than any smartphone. It’s a massive improvement.

To be fair, you may just be trolling, but you have just taken an excerpt of my comment and quoted it as the central tenet of a review, rather than part of a comment in context. If you do post editing on this then you can make it sound like studio quality for acoustic recordings. This is nothing like smartphone quality, way above, and my comment was purely to highlight that.
