Another cheap looking deal from the Zoostorm lot on Amazon, a new i5 PC for £200 sounds good to me, at least:

Intel Core i5-3330 3.0 GHz processor with 6M cache
Hard Disk: 1 TB SATA hard drive
Memory: 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
No O/S included

Only 7 left now but "more on the way"

Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.

Only one left. Be quick!

Bargain but please note no os

Amazon must be making a loss on these. Wish these were available at this price a few months ago when I was replacing some pcs for friends and had to build them as there were zero offers on

No usb 3.0 but a good price!

You'll need ssd, new case, gpu (if required) and o/s unless free linux not a problem, not sure about the motherboard

Only 2 left in stock now...

Just so everyone's aware, there's no operating system with this

it doesn't come with OS the i7 which was posted yesterday with a much better spec plus comes with OS. i did rather buy that for extra 163 quid than this one :P

I did indeed, just wanted to make sure - lol

How good is the motherboard in this PC? The 6GB RAM seems an odd amount - is it 4+2 or 3x2GB?

How would one go abouts installing a ssd boot and HDD storage drive?

Yes, this sounds cheap.

...but this is not a quality PC.

Not one but four comments stating so and that couldn't make your mind up? fpalm...

Much cheaper than 7 but perhaps not as fast. Would this play minecraft with no stress?

Great price if you're not looking for top spec. I purchased one earlier today when only 3 left. Now OOS.

What is the reason for it being so cheap then?

Voting cold as well. Heard Zoostorm machines break down easily. Unlike Dell, quality!

Because its a Zoostorm - cheaply made.

bought the Lenovo i5 desktop deal from a few weeks ago for £252.any … bought the Lenovo i5 desktop deal from a few weeks ago for £252.any advice from the techies on here if this is worth returning the Lenovo for? the lack of OS is no issue.

Keep it.

You dont really need the extra hard drive space unless you have a lot of movies etc, tbh you should have an external hard drive as a backup as well. A hard drive can be picked up cheap anyway.

Also its better built, with most likely better parts. The PSU is probably branded in yours compared to cheap one.

Extra ram won't make much of a difference. Unless you are a gamer or video editor, which I presume you aren't.

Only thing that makes this better is the operating system, if you have a spare copy lying around then I would consider buying the zoostorm instead but if you dont then keep the Lenovo.

Hope this helps.

Nothing wrong with Zoostorm. Even though my PC is a lot like Trigger's broom (ie. I've swapped out/added so many peripherals that you can hardly call it a Zoostorm anymore), it is a great base unit to start off with.

Zoostorm are reasonable. We had a multitude of them in our office. The PSU fan will be a little noisier than a posh build, but they've been reliable enough. If you're worried about lack of USB 3, you can always buy a PCI card for less than a tenner that'll provide that for you. If I had the money right now, then I'd consider this.

I think the lack of USB-3 sums up what you can expect from a Zoostorm PC.

This 2014, not 2006!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I have a spare copy of Win 7, which is what prompted me to consider the Zoostorm over the Lenovo. The extra space and RAM also helped, since I was planning to increase RAM anyway (not a gamer but sometimes use image analysis software). I thought despite the slightly inferior (?) processor, the £ saving is perhaps worth returning the Lenovo?

Though, I have just realised that it has been (just) over 14 days since delivery so might have to pay for return shipping if I were to return it..

Could this handle Elder scrolls online?

Correct, not everyone on hotukdeals is looking to buy on top spec to be a rocket scientist or world gold medalist.

As it is, the iGPU can handle Skyrim with low resolution and with low settings. FPS won't be great.

Oh hell yeah, USB3 will really charge that iphone faster.........

Seems a decent deal if you have a spare OS knocking around

Shengis

Oh hell yeah, USB3 will really charge that iphone faster.........

usb3 can output 900ma, usb2 is limited to 500ma, so yes it can charge the iphone faster

Shengis

Oh hell yeah, USB3 will really charge that iphone faster.........

Well as USB2 provides 500 mA and USB3 provides upto 900 mA, the simple answer is YES.

However, I was talking about the data transfer speeds. USB3 is 10 times faster then USB2.

Word of advice, if you're going to comment on something you know absolutely nothing about, don't bother. (_;)

Boycott Amazon they don't pay tax so we all have to pay more...!!!!

Actually, they do pay tax, but they pay it in Luxembourg, which has a very low rate of corporate tax.

You buy a book at £5; Amazon LUX charge Amazon UK £6, so Amazon UK makes a loss of £1 meaning their UK business loses millions and doesn't owe the taxman a penny.

This is perfectly legal because of our membership of the EU. Luxembourg and Ireland veto attempts at standardizing corporate tax, so the only way to stop this madness is to withdraw from the EU.

Much as I'd like to see this happen, I very much doubt Nigel Farage will be occupying 10 Downing Street anytime soon.

Not that good a machine for the price laptop i3s are getting more processing power and power in general now , CCLonline.com has a good no operating build for 250ish on in gaming at 3.9 and CPU and a radeon 8750(think it was that but was a 8000ish) n other much better build
