Cheap upgrade for basic gaming needs, especially if you are using integrated graphics or a very basic card

Draws power from motherboard, so probably useful to those who bought a pre-built PC with limited PSU wattage and no spare power cables.

Quidco cashback might also be possible

omg it is here!!!!!!!! hmmmmmmmmmmmmm have 750ti.... could get a quad core q6600 or q8400 for 60 to 80 quid from ebay and give that and my 750ti to my son... and get this.... shall I? don't need....just play xcom 2. but....... (i have small form factor viglen business pc with i5 and small psu)

need to check if fits in small.form factor pc. cheers for posting!!

would this be worth an upgrade from my pny 660ti?

Will this card be a waste of money if I pair it with my AMD 5800K CPU (With integrated APU)?

this is a hot price as other places around 160 mark!

I have read it is faster than the 750ti by 50%

as you're a 660... I think that is faster than the 750... reading a review now but cannot comment yet!

if you have a 660 then you're not power constrained like me. so presumably you will be better served getting an rx470 or maybe 960?

I would get an rx 470 if I were you as you can handle the power?

I can't as only small form factor business pc.

I don't know enough about your built in gpu but some benchmarks here

trustedreviews.com/nvi…e-2

so you can see how that compares.

Meant to be on par with the 960, which is still decent at 1080. Really want to pick one of these up and build a tiny console killer for upstairs.

Nice find, This card should work with any of the shelf store PC as it only takes power from the PCIx16 slot. Great if you only have a small power supply, should be able to work with 240w and above although it does state 300w is recommended.

my tip is a quad core pc from ebay for 60-80 quid. tempted to do it just for the fun! my son is only 6 so doesn't need it! but was thinking can get give him an old netbook or tablet and he can just steam stream things at 720p from that set up!

Agh really want to buy this for a new build but I stupidly spent 260 quid on a 970 only in April. Just can't justify it.

Wow, nice price indeed. I wonder if it would be a worthy upgrade from my 750Ti? I'm playing Fallout 4 on medium settings, would this card give me a little more?

i read it is 50pc faster. i posted benchmarks above but they compared it to r460 and r 470 from amd. benchmarks vs 750ti not seen yet but should be out soon!!

I would say wait a bit cause this ought to push the prices down. But then again the way the £ is at the moment It's uncertainity all the way...

Another review here - eurogamer.net/art…iew

It is about 50% faster than a 750 Ti based on the fact it's about on par with GTX 960. Was surprised to see it could overclock to 1850MHz (!!) since it has no extra PCI Express power.

I don't think it's a power issue, the 470 4gb is minimum £180. The 1060 is also minimum £180.

If you are going to up the budget to 180, get the 1060 3gb.

If you have a 135-140 budget, the 1050 TI is a good option.

For 100-105 the 1050 is good.

At the low end, the AMD 460 is not competitive right now unless it's cost is less than the 1050.

The 470 competes with the 1050ti in performance, but not in price.

Need a low profile version of this, and can then upgrade my 750ti. Shame its still 128 bit, a PCIe powered 192bit version at £140 would be the holy grail.

Its quicker than a 7970 and not far off the Titan in GTA V!! On a 75w card! (though granted they may have been tested with a different CPU etc)

If its SFF you might need to wait for low profile (and probably dual slot) cards to come out over the next few months. Is your 750 full height?

At what? Heating your room up? Chances are if the 470 drops, then this will drop. And if you only have a weedy PSU, or like me have a HTPC where heat output must be minimal, and my case is low profile too, and you need the highest efficiency in FPS/w as possible then that pretty much rules out any AMD card made since the 7000 series.

I use moonlight / trinus a lot on my phone too with VR headset, won't work with AMD.

Besides, AMD haemorrhaging money, they can't afford to do a price cut.

Nice price, hoping this'll nudge the 1060 down slightly, or maybe the 480

I'd take an 8GB 470 for £165 every day of the week over this.

Appreciate it you're hampered by a need for a LP card it may be out of the question, but plenty of people aren't and 100% more VRAM and in most cases 20fps more in games like BF1 its a no brainer.

The 1050ti can already play BF1 at full whack in 1080p at 58FPS. Its a 1080p aiming card, not sure what benefit 8gb over 4gb will have for the next 12-18 months whilst most games are console ports, and the 470 doesn't have the grunt to give dual monitors or 4k res justice.

guru3d.com/art…tml

Most people won't notice 20FPS extra on their bog standard 60hz IPS 24" monitors, and as drivers age that gap will close anyway. Doubt the gsync/freesync types will be looking at £150 cards either.

Edited by: "jaydeeuk1" 26th Oct 2016

You've clearly made your mind up which is better, even in the face of logic. So enjoy your 1050, for the rest of the people wanting best FPS/£ the RX 470 will be a much better card that should ensure greater longevity - the 470 supports Async computing for a start, the 1050? Nope. With DX12 and Vulkan games the Amd will also continue to outperform it handsomely.

Here's a decent objective overview:
youtube.com/wat…Eyg
(8:00 for BF1, 14:00 for round-up)

Your comment about sync, well it may be relevant to the Nvidia users who have to pay £100 premium for the technology, but for Freesync AMD users, this end of the market is exactly what the technology is there to support, lower FPS cards that may otherwise suffer from tearing and stutters - go read about Freesync and LFC so you're aware.

You're trying to justify this card over a 470 which trumps its in every respect for TDP but even then either Frame/Watt, or Frame/£ it silences the 1050.

Unless you need a LP card, there is no point buying a 1050.

some of the 54w for the i3 will be for its built in graphics which won't be used (unless you're multi tasking on two monitors to rip your blu rays!)

Kind of gutted about this. Bought a 750ti in September thinking that was the best I could use on my PC due to power limits.

i didnt know if it was easier to upgrade the psu and put in my system pulled gtx 960 or just a gfx card that wasnt psu hungry. this card looks a quick win and less faffing.

That's the same card I have, cracking little thing, could probably sell it and get most of the £90 I paid for it 2 years ago.

Moonlight only works with nvidia, not amd, elite dangerous is pretty awesome on a £20 headset with head tracking with no wires at all.
