Best Price I can find for an in stock GTX 970 with a 2 fan non-reference cooler. Has full sized ports on the back unlike the budget Palit ones (which have mini-ports and don't come with adaptors).

Dabs offer cashback but probably gets invalidated by using a coupon

Wow, decent price! Certainly a compelling alternative to the great prices on 780 cards recently. Looks like a nice form factor too, I remember being surprised at how titchy my Zotac 660 Ti was.

Heat added.

Wrong thread?

Awesome card for the price (not that I can afford one at the mo' ). Check the benchmark reviews to see how much oomph you get for your money (and I'm an AMD fan).

Awesome, ordered. Think it's not going under this price for a while (1 month?).

Good price! Decided to go for the MSI version through. Thought if im spending this kind of money on a GPU might as well.

50 quid more for the 980 is worth it.

I heard the EVGA edition has a noise / temperature issue so I'm looking at the other editions.

How is MSI differ-net from this one?

Still can't even max out LL at 1080p. But this is probably the best card on the market in terms of price to performance.

i have 3 screens....would this work as a mini,hdmi and dvi setup?

This differs from most of the others in its size - it's 20cm long and suits my mini-ITX case. Only the Inno3D comes close.

20cm?? that is why really looks cheap, MSI is about 27cm

Hardly a solid find. Amazon has screwed up prices before. But if you're willing to wait it could of course pay off.

No the small size is a good thing if you have a small case like mini-ITX - normally smaller models come at a price premium whereas this doesn't. There is nothing cheap about it - I have one - the PCB is effectively reference with a solid heatsink that covers the VRAM - sometimes they are put on the reverse of the PCB

Hypothetically the no of VRM phases and efficiency of cooling may be less than with longer cards but please do not assume that simply being red and black translates to something being better quality.

EDIT Out of stock in any case

For a start the 980 isn't only £50 more, secondly the 980 isn't worth the money. The 970 with a slight overclock has equal performance to stock 980, go watch some video companions and benchmarks.

It's not that good! Crysis 3 and Metro LL wouldn't run at 60fps on ultra settings at 4K. You've got Witcher 3 and the new Dragon Age games coming out. Unreal Engine 4 games, like Arkham Knight, won't be playable on best settings at 4K either.

That's currently unavailable and clearly a misprice on Amazon's part, it's at least £400 everywhere else.

I have a Zotec 670 and it is of excellent build quality, nice and quiet, very good overclocker too.

Whats the warranty on these as the 780 is coming with a 5 year?

No stock

Definitely a great price for the performance. Wish I could afford it, but they reckon the 20nm Maxwells aren't too far off and to be honest the only real reason I can see worth upgrading my 3.5-year-old 6950 is if I was going to make the jump to 4K, which this card can't handle anyway, soooooo think I'll just play the waiting game.

£400 - £500 for an 4K monitor. So that's an extra compulsory expense to consider.

I know it's a hefty price tag but my old card still plays most games on high (if not ultra) at acceptable frame rates. Also curious to see what card you will need to run an VR headset.

What do people think of this build obviously with the zotac gpu instead of the r9 280x

Looks good. Make sure there will be enough clearance for the ram with that cooler. I had to use low profile gskill ares with my gelid tranquillo v2 cooler, which looks very similar to the 212 evo. Doesn't apply if you only ever plan to use 2 dimm slots however.

It will be my first ever build, i may struggle a bit here and there thanks for the heads up

There are a few things in my build that i am not 100% on:

The mobo i have seen on the msi forums some issues with bios updates (would you recommend an alternative?)

The gskill ram may not be compatible with this mobo (again use your recommendation?)

PSU use a fully modular? is this a biggie?

What on earth are they going to name the next generation?

hamza_tm

What on earth are they going to name the next generation?

They'll possibly bin off GT / GTX, add something else ( SR / SRI) and start again with their numbering or they'll just go back to 4 digit numbering as with the old cards from the late 90s.

GoatzRus

Wrong. The 980 is at least 15-20% faster than a 970 at stock and when overclocked (both the 970 and 980 seem to overclock equally).

Not much. The 970 might just about pip the 780 overall. It does have 4gb of ram, Directx12 and uses a lot less power though remember.
