when a manufacturer sets a RRP of say £300,that is what the manufacturer values its card at,when the shop charges £450 that's a rip off,its got nothing to do with what the consumer thinks its worth.

its just boring to listen to people whine "its a rip off" all the time, …its just boring to listen to people whine "its a rip off" all the time, its not a rip off, its just more than "you" think its worth.

When products are substantially more than RRP, I think it’s appropriate to call it a rip off

Cheaper at Amazon if the 11 day wait doesnt faze you.

amazon.co.uk/gp/…h2M
I remember when these where around 350£
It might be 'cheap' right now but it will never be a deal in this current market.

These companies are ripping us off big time.

Wait a little while longer. They are slowly coming back down.

Not sure its possible to rip someone off for a item that is purely a luxury good, you can live without this.

That can be said of pretty much anything that isn't food, water, or rent. Just because something isn't necessary, doesn't mean it can't also be a rip off.
I'm curious to see how many people that complain of suppliers selling gpus at such high prices and ripping off the customer have iPhone x's

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, these, as with most graphics cards, were cheaper when they came out than they are currently. Crypto-mining has massively driven up the prices of graphics cards. So for people who want them to play games with, rather than mining highly volatile digital currency, one might say these cards have in fact become a bit of a rip-off. Just as rent in many cities is becoming a rip-off due to foreign investors driving up prices.
The issue is probably a little more complex. As I doubt retailers are paying the same amount to suppliers as they were 18 months ago. So they are passing on the additional costs to the customer. Plus a little extra maybe

This is almost the definition of a rip off

It has its flaws, but I think at this point our argument is fairly pointless as different people have different definitions of the phrase "rip-off"
not worth, id rather add an extra £50 for 1070 ti or 1080 (£100 extra)

plus the cooler looks poor on this one, I bet it gets hot & noisy

still waiting for my preorder of £425 evga 1080 from amazon to come in (yawn)..

Terrible price, not idea how this got over 100, even in this lousy market for PC builders there have been better deals. Think there were some sub £400 1080s the other day, admittedly refurbished but at least they were a good price for a high end card rather than a rip off price for a mid-high card....
If you're insane.
Don't buy a £400 video card that is nearly 2 years old and within months of replacement. Unless desperate.
Rofl, It's amazing what passes as a deal on this site.

you'd have to be a complete moron to buy a gpu at these prices and mentally defect to think this is in anyway a deal, WE ARE being ripped-off and morons keep condoning it and so aib's and such continue the ridiculous price hikes cause why not the stupid morons are buying them.
buy used ffs prices will crash then you'll see, the crypto thing will always be there it's not going anywhere it's here to stay but with asics for bitcoin you can see what happened there now we get asics for ether same again a used gpu flood is incoming on ebay just wait and do everybody a favour and buy there, I know I am and so are many I know, if you keep paying these insane costs for what is a low/mid range gpu they'll keep charging it in-fact they'll keep raising the price just to see how far they can go, if your not careful the next gpu's will start seriously overpriced then you've only yourselves to blame.

Thinking a 1070 is worth £400 lol it's barley worth £300 new and it's on a2 yr old architecture which was a refresh of Maxwell rofl.
