At last, some normal price for GTX 1080, it is a mini version but fans are ok with this model. I wouldn't go TI MINI as it gets too hot . Free postage and 5 years warranty . Better than " ebay deals " Hopefully helped someone

Voted hot. Some English suggestions, assuming you are a non-native speaker. "a normal price", "too hot", "better than". *Takes English teacher hat off.*

I dare say cooling the sun passively wouldn’t work too well

Really?
I wonder why; the Zotac 1070 does!
I got this just before Xmas, works great, no issues, although i only have a 1080p monitor so this card is somewhat wasted for me at this time....but i would not say £470 is normal, i would have thought £399 for the GTX1080, £299 for the 1070, £180 for the1060 (6gig) and say £140 for the 1060(3gig)......but never almost £500 for a video card, and yes is see the irony of my post as i was stupid enough to buy one and hence help keep the prices high. lol

But heat anyway because it is cheaper than some of the insane prices some are asking for a 1080.

The Mini versions have always been a bit cheaper. This is the same price on Amazon for those that don't want to deal with Ebuyer.
Personally I wouldn't buy a Mini unless my case couldn't fit a full size card... the Mini version has a reputation for being rather noisy.

I just bought laptop "i know there slightly different" 1060 gtx with 120 htz screen and i5 7th gen etc for just over 800 so to hear yhe graphics card is around 200 sounds about right,

Your 1080 is overkill for 1080 bet ur getting 60+fps on any game 100% of the time... nice!
Yeah a GTX 1080 is probably overkill for most people doing 1080p gaming. But it does mean (for most games) you can turn up all the eye candy settings to maximum and still get very decent frame rates while not running the card anywhere close to 100%, so the fans will stay pretty quiet. Alternatively if someone has a 144Hz monitor and wants 144 frames a 1080 is useful.

The 1070 TI is nearly as good at the 1080 but the pricing is very weird... sometimes they are actually cost more than their 1080 equivalent and often only £30 - £40 less. Then the 1080 TI is like £200 more than a 1080.

Even a 1070 is overkill for 1080p gaming, having one made me "need" to buy a 1440p monitor :o)

A GPU is not the sun when idle even a 1080.
There is no reason a graphics card should operate at a loud fan speed when idle, apart from marketing a more expensive model that does have such a feature. Behold the zotac 1080 amp edition!
Basically as there is (virtually) no difference in gpu between mini and full size they had to "nerf" the mini by taking out the idle fan off.

Is that a problem? iirc they only start implementing it with the gtx 900 series. anyway, fan spin should be at very low speed at idle that is inaudible. but yeah i wont get a mini unless you have a mini case

Thanks for correcting me But yeah it's not my native language so I'm keep learning. I will pay more attention.
I've been waiting for this to drop in price for a while, so I can fit it in my Phanteks Evolv Shift case!

I might as well just wait another month and hope it won't go up in price again.

To buy or not to buy, that is the question...

Oh it is even worse than that, i am not even gaming on the PC at this time, XBX and PS4 pro with the PSVR is all that i am gaming on since xmas, so basically GTX1080 that i did not need for checking out Hotdeals website, bargain right. lol
5 year guarantee included... this should be much hotter!

It's okay. I have a mini case, so you can get a mini GTX.

Thanks for adding this. I'm going to be doing a first-time build in the near future and am in the process of specifying and pricing what I'm going to be putting in. It's a slow process because I want to obviously get it right. I'm trying to get that balance of future-proofing and not over-paying or over speccing. Although the last point is the least important to me in the project as I'd much rather have more than I need. For example, I doubt I'll actually need a 1080ti anytime soon but if one comes up at the right price I'll snap it up.

I'm not in a hurry to get it done so I'm putting together "trigger point" prices for the components and the above was useful to juxtapose against what I already had thought. Hopefully your estimates prove accurate as they were a little lower than my trigger points and consequently I've just revised mine downwards!

The mini has a smaller heat sink. Necessitating the fan to boost its idle cooling abilities.
I had a 1080 Amp Edition and the cooler sucked on that, it went back. Then though I got a good price on it. . This thing must be awful.
think i'll stick with my 1060 and dizzy spells on fallout vr... better part of 500 bucks is still ridiculous prices... hopefully when next gen comes out later this year these will drop to under 300 at least.

AMD have a bit of a history of over promising and under delivering though. Plus there is a new line up of Nvidia cards due soon
