I didn't think it was retailer specific? Scan, Aria and PC World are doing it with all GTX 970 & 980 cards? I could be wrong.

Amazon doesn't partake.

You linked the wrong amazon 970. I think this is the one.

How does this compare to the MSI and Gigabyte versions of this card?

Thank you. I have amended.

Decent price. I think the Asus Strix 970 with 3 games at £289.99 is a better deal though. Yes it's more expensive but I think it's s better card. It's cooler and it has a back plate.

Was waiting to see what AMD releasing the 300 range would do to the prices but decided to go for this. Great price for a 970 and two decent games. 1.51% TCB also.

Yeah. Lets all buy a graphics card that the CEO of Nvidia blatantly lied about the amount of Ram with.

pffft

The will be £170-180 on the second hand market in one months time I guarantee it.
Also most of these GPU's carry a manufacturers 3 year warranty so its a no brainer really.
Cold all day long.

Nvidia are dirty rotten scoundrels

In one months time AMD release the most technological GPU's ever made.
Prices of ALL other GPU's will come down.

It doesn't, spend the extra and get the MSI or ASUS. The ASUS with 3 games is a better deal

I wouldn't, anything remotely related to PC gaming and Ferrari here knows everything, the guy could argue with himself

Nvidia are divisive and seclusive against the pc community.

Ever since the scandal hit about the 4gb ram 3.5gb + 0.5 low speed cache ram, from my perspective nvidia have lost all credibility, liars and cheats.

Nvidia pushing forward with there restricted G-sync monitor only for nvidia cards whilst AMD opened up free sync for all.

AMD have released mantle api for all whilst Nvidia with there physX are locked down and a flop

Nvidia enforce game works on companies which is known to inhibit gaming performance for amd card e.g. Ac unity running gimped on AMD cards.

For the reasons above I refuse to purchase nvidia products until they stop lying about there products and move to unifying the pc community instead of dividing.

Heat for this.

For someone looking to purchase a new card or two at this moment in time, this would be a nice deal.

Purchasing two 970's at the moment is the best price to performance.

These cards do have 4GB of memory but two separate pools 3.5 and 0.5 in the second pool. This does cause a performance decrease of which has been tested against the 980 and shows roughly 5-6% reduction. Nvidia misrepresented the configuration of the GTX 970 but Its still a good card and having two of these running together for under £500 is solid.

Think I'll hold off until next month though, see what AMD brings along.

Wait what? Waht's all this about 3.5 + 0.5?

I'm kidding. Just amazed it took so many posts before someone piping up.

In response to tsed. I have the MSI version, and i can't comment on how that compare, but i can tell you it's virtually silent and laughs in the face of any game i've thown at it. Playing Crysis 3 at the mo, and it's stunning.

If it wasn't for the pesky extra 0.5 Gbyte it would have been a truly wonderful card. But every time i put the settings into AMD mode, it moans and groans about the extra RAM i've not been able to use, and then performs perfectly anyway. Wierd.

Great deal especially with 2 games. Needed a new card for just 1080p. Perfect timing for Witcher 3 upgrade! HEAT!

Its a month away.
You wanna bet on it these cards will not be selling for £170-180 in a months time?
I got cash waiting.
The 970 second hand market will be flooded in one months time.
There are a lot of bitter people out there annoyed they were lied to and prepared to switch to AMD.
Come on, put your cash on the table if you are so sure what I say is rubbish.
Edited by: "Ferrari100" 11th May 2015

the only problem about this idea is if your going to be paying this kinda money you would be better off paying that bit extra for the better models, the 970 msi model on dabs is what i chose a few days ago when this promotion pushed me over

Can anyone recommend a good graphics card and Micro ATX or Mini ITX motherboard under £200? i bought this case morecomputers.com/ext…-BL

This is a reference cooler, so it exhausts it's heat through the rear I/O which is good for smaller cases. Other cards exhaust there heat inside the case.

This good enough for 1440p you reckon?

This is how ALL stores should be selling the 970 if they do not want the risk of the product being returned under trading standards regulations and mis-selling:

No one cares, we get you don't like Nvidia go and write a letter to them

Well if anyone is unsatisfied with their slow 0.5 gb of ram ill swap your gtx 970 for my 770 ? anyone ? .................

Don't care about ram - all I know is the 290x Msi I got is toasting all my other components which were cool as a cucumber before ! So I will take the 0.5gb hit and same performance over ruining my PC !

I'd take a punt half the people moaning about the 0.5 cant'/didnt even notice until it was put out there in the public eye

But am getting strix version

That is a fantastic price for such a great performance card, even if it does only have 3.5GB of usable memory.

People will tell you it is, but I've been there done that and its not...

A 980 smashes it, however.

I have the MSI 970 and it's a beast of a card compared to my old 760, not sure about Zotac no Twin Frozr?, playing Far Cry 4 Ultra settings 1440P, Vsync ON, 55-60FPS and only uses 3.2gb VRAM Max anyway! No Coil Whine either!

It can do 1440p so you must be doing something wrong

Will teh 3.5gb issue be fixed by drivers or is it baked into the hardware?

Still the card in SLI is the best price to performance. I'll wait till next month and then make a decision. If they do drop to £170 as you previously mentioned I'll buy two.
