Or if you don't mind waiting an extra few days and are willing to spend an extra £10 then this one is available with a higher stock clock and aftermarket cooler. Obviously the choice is yours.

I was eyeing on the same deal. I take it this later one is better than the Founders Edition right? I heard Founders Edition is basically the new term NVIDEA is using for reference cards.

If it's good enough for Yon-sama then its good enough for me.

Or get the 8GB AMP Edition tomorrow from Scan for £11 more.

Imho yes. You can actually get that card for £399 and delivered tomorrow as well if you have a free delivery account with scan.

scan.co.uk/pro…ing?

I bought it from Amazon though because I had some account credit and a student discount so I got that amp! Version for £376. I won't get it until next Tuesday or Wednesday but I'm willing to wait a few extra days at that price.

I saw that but a lot of people on here really don't like scan and also don't have the free delivery bonus on their accounts.

I do though and if I didn't have a discount with Amazon then I would be ordering that myself.

I'm always amazed when people on here recognise my avatar. Most people tend to assume that it's a picture of me. X)

I quite like the look of the 'stock' founder's edition cooler. It looks like it'll dump most of the heat out the back of the case rather than letting it leak inside.

I've previously 'upgraded' a GPU cooler from a leaf-blower design to a huge open heatsink and fans multiple design. The card did run much cooler and quieter initially. However, after an hour or so it wasn't much better than the stock blower and everything else in the case was a few degrees warmer too. I had to run the fans on the case a bit higher to compensate, so I didn't get much of a sound benefit either.

Of course most review sites only test the temperatures on an open bench, so they never see the benefits of a ducted cooler design.

My mate runs two Founders 1080's in SLI and he has said that's exactly what they do. I think the only concern would be overclocking it with that sort of cooler.
Nvidia are doing an excellent job at keeping the prices through the roof..

I used to overclock, back when I was a lad... when you could boost the whole system so a Pentium 150 would run at 225 and the memory and buses at 37.5MHz with a dirty great Delta fan on top. Or a pair of Celeron 300A's at 450MHz on an Abit dual slot mobo. Or a Duron 700 at 1GHz before the gig barrier was officially broken.... and you genuinely got close to the 50% performance increase from the overclock (and tinnitus from the very loud fans you had to run). Nowdays overclocking is about chasing 10%... get off my lawn!
