Dolby atmos from phone speakers, yeah right...
The speakers on this are amazing for a phone.
Looks great for the money in fairness
I'd buy the Axon 7 every time if I had the choice, but from the UK and new it's a great price. The camera, battery and processing power are not as good as its bigger brother, though. Lesser internal memory, too.

You should give it a try. I picked this up for less than 100 notes in a gearbest sale. The quality of the sound is unlike I've heard on any phone before, that includes the iPhone X and Galaxy S8. Holding it in front of you, you get a really weird and at first rather unsettling experience of the sound being all around you. It's incredible.

Had same experience from a Lenovo Tab3 deal a while back when it ran its jungle demo but its not to be compared to this.

To Louise: Hows the Axxon 7 going? I chose the MiA1 but in retrospect should have followed your lead.

Really happy with it, nice and responsive, no niggles with it at all. The app drawer took a slight adjustment but I'm used to it now.

I had a Samsung Note 4 (which died whilst I waited for Gearbest to post the blimmin' thing) - it was teetering near full internal memory over its last months of life, which probably made it sluggish.

Was really worried about the camera but it's actually fine for what I use it for (usually posting various shizzle I find out shopping on HUKD, or pictures of dogs, babies, etc)

If you choose wisely and don't just jump on a China phone as soon as its released, it makes spending £700-odd on a new phone seem like throwing money away.

Haven't tested the DAC as I've been using Bluetooth headphones for a while and don't think it works with PowerAMP (think you can only utilise it via the ZTE Music app).

Can't remember where I read it, but after the Axon M (which was a nice idea but not one I could ever see being popular) apparently ZTE are working on a successor to the Axon 7.

My MiA1 on receiving its Feb 1st 2018 Security Update on 3rdMar2018(released on that day because of earlier release failures & freeze to fix bugs) rebooted twice (one is consistently repeatable) immediately.
The second instance was when I was searching my email for a mesg from a Xiaomi India Technical lead asking for more info on my spontaneous reboot issue and on giving up trying to find it, my email session ended on a spontaneous reboot. Perhaps, it might settle down after a few spontaneous reboots waxing on that Axon7 or MiA1 day of decision and thought of hows Louise?

Have you ever contacted ZTE for support. Answers are automated from China. Some crap about being sorry, but brainless answers (i.e. they won't do anything to help). The battery is useless (check before you buy). This company deserves to go under. Let's make it happen!
found them cheaper on ebay i will not trust very anymore for sending second hand phone and charged like brand new

It's the jungle demo on the Axon I was referring to.

Yes it definitely has as confirmed by Dolby website
Don't be put off by the "gold" colour - its not brash or shiny, its a much more subtle matte effect - what used to be called "champagne" (speaking as a "gold phone" hater, I don't mind it) . Battery life is acceptable but not great - will get through the day on normal settings/ use.
Seems like a good phone but don't buy expecting a slim version of the original Axon 7, this is a different spec phone entirely. Different resolution screen (1080p rather than 1440p), different processor (50% slower in benchmarks even with 2x core count), less RAM (3GB rather than 4GB), less storage capacity (32GB rather than 64GB). Other than the processor, all of those are fine, but as this phone's performance was criticised in reviews back when it came out (2016), doesn't seem like it'll be very future-proof. Also, battery life is said to be bad. Not a bad phone for the price, but the Axon 7 label might be misleading to some.
ordered one plus the wife had 10% off code on her account £129 all in not bad really
I wouldn't get it. The Snapdragon 617 processor sucks. It's old now, overheats and won't get updates.
Just the weak battery let's it down
Gearbest has for £121 with week ship time. Thoughts??
A poor mans P2 but considering you now cannot buy the £200 P2 this is a great alternative.

Very VERY good buy.
So barely an improvement over a 2.5 year old smart ultra 6, and £40 more expensive too.

Not feeling it.

I understand that. We use there products for the mvno I set up. Just saying this specific model looks a little cheap and nasty and looks like something I once bought off eBay before returning it

That was not Amoled. These screens cost at least double, that being why manufacturers barely use them.

Woah, that's a bit harsh, what did they do to you?!

I will say, I've asked ZTE UK (on Twitter) twice if I could get my hands on a UK-suitable official Charger (originally for Singapore I think) for the Axon 7 and they haven't replied - an acknowledgement would be nice, though of course they don't sell that model in this country.

I've used the Blade L2 (mum hated it, but it was more to do with the 4GB internal memory) which probably wasn't a great introduction to ZTE as it was bargain basement and plasticky, and Nubia Z7 Max which was more of a premium device but has an English ROM on it (a great phone, but my sister's husband somehow managed to plonk it into a glass of lager overnight, and killed it )

Oh actually, my sister has the ZTE Axon Elite (which is the predecessor to the newer Axon 7 lines and looks physically similar) really lovely in the flesh, great camera - BUT doesn't get any ZTE updates. At all. These Axon 7 models, at least, get updates My sister only makes calls, talks on Facebook Messenger and doesn't mind.

Personally I don't think the Axon Elite or Axon 7 look "cheap and nasty" but that's subjective. I would like my Gold phone to look more blingy, but then, I'm a gurl

@davening Sorry to hear of your troubles with your Xiaomi.

If you, or others, decide on a replacement Axon 7 - it's been appearing on MusicMagpie (ebay and their main site) lately, "Pristine", at £239.99 store.musicmagpie.co.uk/pro…e56 which is a bit of a swizz compared to the £175.99 we Gearbest purchasers paid. Though it was £179.99 (!) "Refurbished, Good" before Xmas - mentioned here hotukdeals.com/com…301

Failing that, there's plenty of Axon 7 auctions on ebay.

A picture on the internet might look cheap and nasty but have you actually seen/tried the Axons in reality? If we all judged electronic devices from photos on a monitor or tablet/phone screen, HUKD would be a very sorry place indeed.

I love mine and I'm more than happy to use it in public - it looks premium (I also use the official flippy-plastic-window Gold ZTE case, which "wakes" the screen when you open it).

Its a great mobile, wish I got it back then, but its a new season. To Louise, thanks for checking up for me but am going to hold out for Treble&NFC&AndroidOne.
As for being 'tat', everyone to his or her own. You know what you have.
To Louise: I managed to get PowerAmp full effects ie stadium reverb working with Atmos together on the Lenovo Tab 3. Had to switch off Direct Volume Control or something like that and that got past the either or but not both situation. I charge for this tidbit.

An anything Chinese comment. And all reviews mark down Chinese. Plus they almost always seem to near ignore discussing expensive OLED. Whilst you could argue racism, it is as much protectionism.
