Looks good - anyone know if these would be unlocked?

They are locked but unlock codes are cheap on Ebay. If you are an existing Vodafone customer you should be able to buy in a Vodafone shop without the £10 topup.

I HAVE ONE OF THESE DROPPED IN IN THE BATH FULL ON FOR 10 SECONDS BY ACCIDENT STILL WORKING AS NEW LOL

Was chatting to the guy in store today, he said they were great phones and people just turned their nose up when he suggested them as it was a no-name brand (I already have one)

I got one two weeks ago when the same offer was on. It's a decent phone and I managed to get it unlocked easily using a code off ebay for £1.20. The only issue I have is using it on EE, it keeps constantly losing the mobile network, going to try a new sim card, whenever EE decide to send me one which I asked for a week ago.

Can't grumble, it does everything which my old LG K10 did but for half the price. Especially like the back surface material, seems less easier to drop.

Annoying, got this for £95 few days ago!!

Would they refund me difference by any chance lol?

If you haven't opened it take it back.

Or unlock it, they go for more than that on ebay

Good specs and a nice cheap phone available directly from the high street.

Does anyone think this might get cheaper on black Friday? If it comes down to £50 or £60, I might be tempted to get it as a backup to my Axon 7 which I ordered recently. I'm currently using my old Moto G (1st Gen) but over the last few days, I've noticed its battery life dies fairly quickly. It's over 3 and a half years old so understandable but the battery life just drains quickly and it's become more noticeable over the last few days. It also takes around 3hrs to charge so a bit annoying.

Also, does anyone know if there are any promotional codes to use for this? Can't seem to find any at the moment.

Thank you.

It is already £59 so I can't see it getting much cheaper than that. If you already have a Vodafone sim card you might be able to avoid the top up by going into store.
As much as I loved my Moto G 1st gen this is way better in mostly all aspects, but then I suppose it depends on what you need a phone for? This phone will take around 2 hrs to charge still due to the larger capacity batteries these days.
One good thing I didn't realise before I bought this is the inclusion of an LED notification light, which is missing from so many phones these days.
I solved my issue using my old Orange SIM card by choosing 3G/2G auto in the mobile network settings instead of 4G/3G/2G auto as I don't use mobile data so will not need it.
Not aware of any promo codes on Voda at the moment.

Thanks for the response.

It's a shame but I'm on 3. If I bought this, I would have to unlock it with a code from eBay which isn't a problem. Just means I'd have to sell the £10 top up as well on eBay.

Since you've also had the Moto G 1st gen, how much of a difference is there in size? I tried to use the mobile phone size comparison feature online but this ZTE A512 isn't available so I couldn't compare its size to the Moto G. How much bigger is it compared to the 1st gen G? I've held the Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus and comparing its size to this A512, it seems the A512 is slightly taller but also slightly thinner?

Anthony, is that issue only with the Orange network? I've got a 3 sim so do you think it would work on this without any issues?

My Sim card is really old now and cut down from the original micro one so that could be the issue. Probably wouldn't be a problem on 3.
To be honest I wouldn't really say you would notice much difference in how much larger the phone is. It's probably thinner than the Moto G but without checking I couldn't say for sure.
I think the camera would be the largest difference, it was never really any good on the Moto G, the one on the ZTE is much much better and has HDR mode which helps.
I got a code off ebay in 6 hrs after purchasing for £1.25 so it's not really too much hassle, but then you would probably need a new sim card yourself, because as far as I remember the Moto G was a normal size sim.

I see. SIM card size shouldn't be a problem, I don't think. I have a Micro SIM on my Moto G and so would just have to cut it down to the nano SIM size to get it working on the ZTE A512. As far as software goes, is it pretty much stock android MM 6.0? And is there any Vodafone bloatware/apps pre-installed?

Got one of these for my mum, really impressed with it for the price. Thanks OP

I'm not too bothered about this because it's worth £69 anyway, but...ordered online and it seems the top-up is on the SIM rather than a separate top up code/voucher, can anyone confirm this please?
I'm not going to use the SIM but just wondering about any possible implications from selling/passing it on, if it has been pre-registered to myself.

Pretty well Stock Android, there is a bit of bloatware, which I've taken off and the splash screen when it boots up is Vodafone.
Still leaves around 10 gig of space for Apps and stuff.

I got a SIM with a new mobile number with the £10 top up with Vodafone, I might just use it myself for a month and throw away.
I thought about selling on ebay, but then I couldn't be bothered with the hassle, not sure how the SIM is registered to me, but just don't want to take the chance.
I think if you went into the store, you might be able to avoid the top up.When I collected it they asked me if I wanted a SIM card and I said I wouldn't mind it as I've already bought it.

Okay, thanks for that. How did you take off the bloatware? Was it a forced uninstall via settings app?

Most of it through the Play Store, some I could just do straight from the screen by placing them into the Bin

I might buy another one!

I understand. Although, just in case you didn't know, when you remove apps from the desktop/screens by putting them into the bin, it's just a recycle bin for the screens. It doesn't actually uninstall the app from the phone. Not sure if you knew this already but thought I'd mention this anyway. Thanks again for your help.
