Top ups are in £5 minimum increments so ask the phone advisor nicely if they can credit you the 32p needed to unlock. they did for me but if you demand it they could insist you buy another £5 to cover it

Wish this was a few weeks ago before I spent £215 on a Galaxy S3, … Wish this was a few weeks ago before I spent £215 on a Galaxy S3, obviously a better phone, but £130 better?

Those phones are rather different really, galaxy s3 is faster, better screen, camera etc. But this has some tasty spec for just £90. There are few phones if any under £150 that have 1gb ram, many have android 4.0 instead of 4.1.2, i expect this phone to sell well in the uk. This uses cortex a5 cores (low power), galaxy s3 has cortex a9 cores which are probably 50% or so faster but i wouldn't pay £215 for a phone with that spec personally.

Some of the deals on HTC one got 500° for 2% discount during 2 days, so this should got 10000° for the value..

Not as good as some of the more expensive phones IMO.

You are correct it isn't as good as the £500 Samsung galaxy s4, thank you for pointing this out.

If you thought the acer e2 looked budget, take a look at this phone!

So is this locked to Virgin?
How easy to unlock?

This phone for under a hundred is a bargain but so is the Galaxy S3 for £215 if you got it new! You can't compare upper and lower tier phones directly, there's just too big of a jump.

Blade V - I didn't even know there was a Blade IV.

Quadcore for under £100 - looks like we finally got a new San Francisco.
Other than a small-ish screen with only 480p resolution these specs are actually rather good.

For anyone who thinks the Nexus 4 still is a bit too much for their wallet, this is the phone to get. Judging by specs alone that is.

Genius - comment of the day! X)

Any reviews? I a ZTE grand X and the screen was really unresponsive.

you can often fix that with custom roms, maybe even apps.

Can you detail a bit? I have the Acer E2 Duo, and seem very elegant to me. What makes it look budget in your eyes?
The Acer E2 also gets raving reviews on Amazon.de at a much higher price...

Holy crap.

If this is the right price then this is the deal of the century!!!!

Shame about the screen res, would of been the icing on the cake if the phone had been QHD or better

Looking at the youtube video, it seems quite responsive.

Its a shame it doesn't have a bigger battery and better screen.

Nice phone otherwise

Good spec for £90. Heat.

Still remember my ZTE Blade. First smartphone I ever bought, and only phone I ever bought on launch day. Ah memories....

only 4gbs for apps .. Great Deal if this isn't an issue, but this ones not for me.

For those of you complaining about the screen resolution, this is the maximum that the chip supports according to: en.wikipedia.org/wik…%29

The chip supports 720p camera recording too btw, not sure whether the image sensor support that or whether zte might have disabled it, we'll have to wait and see what resolution we can record videos at.

it is indeed old, if you want great gaming performance this isn't the phone for you. I don't game so that isn't important to me.

Hi, any advice on which phone is better: the ZTE Blade or this one from DX?

I scanned the part of the latest Virgin Media buyer's guide that shows the phone & prices

http://i.imgur.com/30l5sDu.png

There is also an offer that says "20% off selected Pay As You Go Phones exclusively for Virgin Media customers" and it shows the Blade V along with a few other devices. Should bring the price down to £71.99. You just need to be a TV, broadband, or existing mobile user with Virgin Media and the offer is restricted to 2 phones per household.

The price does not include the £10 top up.

It's an old GPU core so performance won't be as good as faster GPUs like Adreno 3xx series but you do have the quad-core CPU to help things along.

ZTE Blade the original aka San Francisco. The phone that made me want to learn about modding, custom roms etc. I don't think this will be as good as the original San Fran in terms of popularity as there's just way too many options for people who can either spend that little bit more, buy second hand, buy from abroad etc. Still it's not exactly a bad price so have some heat.

heat. looks good on paper - not too huge, reasonable battery capacity, good cpu and RAM.

It will be £89.99 + £10 top up on payg

Will it be locked to Virgin on PAYG sims? Or perhaps another question, does inserting the PAYG sim lock it to the network?

Many thanks

just bought y300 for 30 less and will say I wonder how much difference the extra 2 cores will make since lot of apps are not multi thread the per clock performance of cortex A5 (judging by the y300 performance) is not great in even simple tasks, bearable but definitely not enjoyable
Edited by: "antonywhite37" 2nd Sep 2013

Any ideas on unlocking without custom rom?

Great spec for 90 quid, This is what people have wanted for under 100 quid, Just bought Nexus 4 myself but this is surely a Y300 beater!

1gb ram and quad core, No doubt Huawei will have something similar shortly.

Heat! If 168 quid is too much
