What a cracking deal. I went to the Three store to take a look. Its all metal and similar specs to phones over 2X the price. Also its on for £129.99 PAYG. The store manager said they can barely keep in stock as so popular.

almost pulled the trigger but read that three are unable to cap spending. looking for a phone for my daughter but if going for a pay monthly i need to be able to cap the spend! tesco offer this. shame as very good phone for the price

500mb is not much use unless it's for a nan.

specs are extremely mediocre, i really dont know what phone has those specs for £400.

I think you mean ZTE AXON 7 which is flagship specs for £209

That's not true - I have a second contract for my daughter, and it's capped in that she can't call numbers off bundle, or go over the included minutes, or go over data limits. Most contracts are also effectively unlimited texts as well, so not an issue.

The Blu Life Mark is better for PAYG.

Interesting. When I look at their website it says you can block calls but no mention of data cap

can you show me where i could get an android phone with 2gb ram and 16gb internal memory and a contract with at least 500mb data for £10ish a month? iphone would be ok but pretty sure i won't find one at that price. it's for a ten year old if that helps. 1.5gb ram would be ok on a phone with less than full hd screen. 8gb memory probably be ok but ideally 16gb. screen size uninportant. i can't find anything better than this. thanks in advance.

Because?

Smaller battery, lower screen resolution, questionable Android update policy (aiui) on the Blu.

ZTE are apparently guaranteeing updates for 2 years on their handset, according to the 3 website.

You would honestly be much better off getting a £5.95/Month SIM plan with a £100 phone. The £5.95 life mobile SIM has 1.5GB of Data, 5000 texts and 1000 mins

And then get the phone separetly, like a lenovo note for £80 or so which has 2GB RAM, HD screen, Octa-core SoC and 16GB of storage with MicroSD expansion

I think you are missing the point, have you seen the Blade V7? Its really premium looking, all metal very nice. Personally looks and feels better than iPhone its not some plastic entry phone you can find cheap

That may be, but there are similar, cheaper phones with the same quality, if not better.

Any suggestions about similar phones for similar or better quality? (My son's phone is on its last legs, so something well built but not absurdly expensive would be great.) Thanks

Something along the lines of a Lenovo Note would do. Not the biggest name in the world, but are reliable.

If your son doesnt care about brand names, a chinese phone (such as a Xiaomi Mi4c) would be a really good choice but thats not "popular". The Mi4c has similar specs to that of a 2015 flagship for around £98, a really good deal, but as i said, not a common device.

Here are a few devices i would suggest for < £100:
Lenovo Vibe Z2 £79 @ AliExpress
Blu Life Mark £75 @ Amazon
Sony M4 Aqua (Like New) £70 @ O2
ZTE Blade A2 (Better specs than this with Fingerprint) £97 @ LightInTheBox
