Special Collectors Edition
Zulu is one of the great movies, an epic adventure of courage in the face of incredible odds. Based on a true story it tells the amazing tale of 100 British soldiers who stood fast against an overwhelming force of 4,000 of the Zulu nations mightiest warriors in the defence of Rorke's Drift in 1879.
Superbly photographed in Technirama, few other movies have grippingly captured the tension and terror of combat as wave upon wave of warriors is unleashed on the tiny garrison. Set amongst stunning South African scenery, Zulu is a landmark action film and a fitting tribute to some of the most significant acts of heroism in the history of warfare.
Michael Caine's role as the arrogant but courageous Lt. Bromhead brought him international fame, and there are powerful performances from other great British actors including Stanley Baker and Jack Hawkins.

Mostly English. According to Wikipedia (along with a lot of other interesting info) , the regiment was based in Brecon, Wales. It did not become the South Wales Borderers until 1881 (a few years after the battle of Rourke's Drift). Of the soldiers present, 49 were English, 32 Welsh, 16 Irish and 22 others of indeterminate nationality.. TBH the film does not pretend that most of the soldiers are Welsh and puts plenty of English characters in.

Great film though! Hot.

God my dad and grandad watched that every year without fail.....was always on tv through the christmas period. Drove me totally potty

Great film if somewhat historically inaccurate (Hook was teetotal) Still, more VC's awarded than in any other battle since. Well worth a watch and a this price a steal!

Classic film. ;0

What so you are saying the swordfighting wasn't as badly choreographed in real life? This film is unintentional comedy gold, surely the actors could have made their stabbings look slightly convincing. The number of Zulus that suffer death-by-gentle-tap is remarkable.

Ha ha nice one! I must get round to watching Wonderful Life on Betamax!

Also features a superb score by the late great John Barry. RIP.

Only ever seen bits of it. Just one of those films that ive never got round to watching fully. will watch it at some point though. while we are on the subject of old school British empire films then you need to watch The Man Who Would Be King and Breaker Morant. Both probably two of the greatest films of all time.
