A really easy to use Spectrum emulator. Download the games/ applications you want here...

worldofspectrum.org/arc…tml

Download the tape images (*.tap, *.tzx), extract them with WinZip, then open them from the emulator.

I agree

Classssssic :-)

I remember sitting at my desk, listening to the tape whirring and squealing waiting 30 mins for a game to load only for it to fail... happy days.

lmao - and if it did load, all those little matchstick men playing cricket and football - awesome !!!!:thumbsup:

Thank you! I used to sit hypnotised by the loading bars. I can still hear the sound of a game loading. Discs are so boring!

Does the emulator take 30-45 mins to load up the games? Also can you use the old poke codes, used to love entering those for them not to work or crash the game 2 mins into it. Used to love the way it took so long to load a game then for it to crash right at the end. I used to rush in from school load up Jet set willy then do homework whilst it was loading. Then it would fail so would start process again then have tea whilst it loaded. It would then load up and would then have to load up the saved game tape. Oh the joys of the old speccy. would hate to ruin those dreams! Was like the time we used to have the old tv games system. I ussed to spend hours playing football, tennis, pong ( even tho they were all basically the same game!) Well found it in loft of parents house a few years back got it out for old times sake and ruined all those childhood memories of one of the greatest inventions ever!

It loads the games in about 10 seconds, enough for you to enjoy the old loading lines and sounds. Not sure about poke codes.

Most emulators do, as well as let you use the old fashioned boot loading scheme where it takes about 10 minutes to load, at least this way you know its not going to fail!

I was only talking about the spectrum yesterday on a psp forum lol

had a spectrum emulator on an old pc few years back before broadband and they would take less than 30 seconds to d/l on dial up, good old 48k games, and never ruined my memories, played some classic games and there is an update of back 2 skool that breaks up at the end of the day, brilliant

I don't know what other people think, but I find Ant Attack and Head over Heels really difficult now! I was a master at them when I was a kid.
