This is the new version of the highly rated NAS325 2 bay NAS with a quieter fan (fan noise was about the only complaint with the V1).

Amazon UK price £104.46 and out of stock
Amazon.de price €99.85 plus shipping to the UK - €105.07 (Price on checkout page goes up to €100.69 for some reason + €4.38 shipping) - Available tomorrow

€105.07 converts to £88.29 using today's VISA rate or £87.31 (??) using MasterCard if you have a zero commission card.

I assume you'll have to change the plug...
---------------------------------------------------------------
Edit - Note this is now £89.10 inc. vat at ebuyer!

I have the V1 in the bedroom and fan noise has never been a issue if you were bothered by it you could always change the fan yourself i think its down to the HDD you choose and mine has WD reds, its a great Nas for the money.

Same here, I have the NSA325 with 2 x 3TB drives and no issue with noise.

I believe that as you are buying from within the EU, specifically Germany, the warranty will be valid and as good as, if not better than, a UK warranty...?

is the fan the only difference between the mk1 & mk2.

what can you use this for

what can you use this for

If you have to ask this then you don't need one. Basically it is a networked hardrive once drive/drives are installed

anyone who has used this tell me is it as idiot proof as the Synology range? I want a device to store all my photos/movies on but dont want to spend a whole day trying to set it up.

thanks

Why wouldn't they need one? Seems a bit of a silly thing to say.

If you have setup a nas before these are easy. Had the v1 over 6 months with a whole house of devices linked to it. Has some awesome features mine is set to switch off during the night, support dyndns so can access it from outside ya network, usb 3 support. The only flaw is it doesn't support USB drives over 2tb so if you have a 3tb raid and you want the Nas to keep a USB backup it can't.. I love mine keeping finding stuff I didn't think it could do...

I have owned the V1 for around 10 months now and I had no idea that you can set the device to switch off during the night! That is the one feature I wanted that I didnt think the device did. I assume the instructions for setting this up are in the user manual?

For not much more you can get a basic synology which will be much better for most basic users. Much easier to setup and upgrade and a very active community developing for them.

FYI - Be careful when publishing content (file server/photo server/music server) externally especially when you're opening firewall ports, it's a sure fire way for someone to compromise your network security and all the data on your device. NAS manufactures and IP camera manufacturers arn't that hot on security.

I have a qnap, did the same as you but i've now switched over to using PPTP VPN, opened 1 port on the router and now access my whole network + nas by connecting to the VPN from my phone. iPhones and Android phones have VPN functionality so make use of it.

V1 supports 3 TB drives, I have 2 x 3 TB drives (WD) installed...

V1 ...noise if any comes from drives...dont get the synology arguement, they are better but you will pay plenty, these are great back up devices, i manage all my torrents on it at night so my broadband is not impacted during the day and i have 2 HD TVs networked to it and the film streaming is flawless....just buy it...a child could set it up

I do not have this model, I have the NSA 221, but the software is the same.
Setup is easy and the only hicup I had was setting up the media streaming. My fault for not reading the manual.
The fan noise is not loud and it has a really small footprint on the desk. Mine lives behind the monitor.

i had NSA221 and it was great but upgraded to a NSA325 to get second drive bay....and the processor upgrade makes it lightning fast...ive been watching HD streaming on 2 tvs at once with no issues while downloading torrents...the thing just works

recent 4.61 software update makes it very stable...interface is foolproof, works out of the box with IOS and android...DNLA 1.5 approved so works with loads of Kit and my boys Xbox pick it up so he can watch movies from there

file transfer by wifi is fast and always completes....Zyxel app works perfectly and allows you to control NAs from your armchair.

i was a NAS novice but this thing just works

They can buy one for me, its not my money?

This unit supports Dropbox as well so there's bi directional sync, you can backup to your Dropbox and it will be on the NAS, so you could have Dropbox on your phone and the pics will be backed up to Dropbox and also sent to the NAS.

Have you tried the Dropbox function on this NAS?

Guide to setting that up, if it's useful to you, is in this PDF >

how can I purchase from amazon.de ?,it says that item cannot be shipped to my address ..

Original Poster

I logged on with my UK credentials and purchased the item fulfilled by Amazon.de. Looks like delivery from Amazon direct is now 1-2 months and the page defaults to other marketplace sellers... these may not deliver to the UK. Still not shipped...

Original Poster

Just chatted online to Amazon and the delivery date is still 25-28th Novemeber as per my confirmation email. No issues with the order.
I also checked and looks like you can buy from market place seller Nord PC GmbH & Co. KG for €6 more with Amazon delivery to the UK.

is the 440 3 phase?

Hi there.
how would I be able to tell?

Got an NSA 310 and it's a bit useless really. Lots of video content that I can't play cos the PS3 doesn't trans code and neither does the NAS. Is this any better? I need support for a wide range of codecs, cba re-encoding every video I have or download.

Arrived... has UK and EU plug.
