So you voted cold on that I assume?

how i voted is my own concern. I am merely asking if others are getting fed up of ebuyers "deals" which everyday either include the same homeplug bundle, or a different homeplug bundle, rinse and repeat.

It's a good price for 500mbs I dont see the issue.

The price isn't the issue, but i suppose as we all get to vote on such things, the community will decide.

Good deal, much better than the AV200 adapters that are always being posted.

There's not much difference between this and the AV200 ones. They have 100Mbps ethernet ports.

In real world usage AV500 can significantly out perform AV200. Typical transfer rates for AV200 are around 35-45 Mbps, so are nowhere near saturating the 100Mbps ethernet port. Using AV500 you are more likely to see 100-145Mbps, which would obviously benefit from a Gigabit port. However the potential improvement in moving from AV200 with 100Mbs ethernet to AV500 with 100Mbps ethernet is far greater then the move from AV500 with 100Mbps to AV500 with Gigabit.

Of course it is very dependent on your mains wiring, but the figures above are based on my own observations over a number of years with various brands in several premises. They are largely similar to results from various tech review sites.

My own connection from bedroom to lounge cannot reach more than 135Mbps, so I see only a marginal benefit from my Gigabit adapters.

I bought a pair of Netgear AV200 Nano which maxed out at about 65Mbps.

You have better house wiring than me. I have never been able to push AV200 past 45Mbps.

The best deal from eBuyer was back in April. I managed to get a pair of Zyxel PLA4215 for £20 (now listed at £79). These are AV500/Gigabit/ with pass-thru. There was either a massive stock clearance from Zyxel, or a pricing cock-up. I should have bought more at the time!
