Whadda ya mean? I've never been cheap! Who said that, anyway?

I hate shopping at Lidl and Aldi. No carrier bags, rude staff (if you can ever find any) there is never a contact telephone number to make enquiries, their return policy is quite suspect and they insist on having just one cashier on at a time who whizzes your products through the till at such high speeds that they fall off the end of a very short counter.

I look in disbelief at the individuals who find enough stuff in the shop to fill a trolley.

I like it for the random things you find - price doesn't really matter to me. I get squid, chillis, chocolate and fish - wouldn't do a big shop there as I don't find it's cheaper and for some things the quality is poor and it's a bit of a gamble!

I much rather have fast checkouts than queing in the likes of Sainsburys

Do not want carrier bags - scurge of the earth - just use a box you can pick up anywhere in store

Aldi return policy is one of the best going - never had a problem with them

always get essential from Aldi plus certain things like cooked meats from Aldi - much cheaper than the big boys like TEsco and better quality too

My brother uses lidl for fruit and vegetables because its a lot cheaper (and good quality) than tesco etc, not sure about everything else though

Aldi - spend a lidl, live a alot...

Some things are cheaper in Lidl but in general I agree and was saying the same thing to the wife a few months back. We go to the Farley Hill branch in Maidstone and its right next door to Netto. Netto used to be expensive compared to Lidl but the tables seem to have turned with Netto getting the better prices.

On a side note though I was in Asda on monday looking at their own brand 200g chocolate bars. They had a big rollback sign on them with 78p crossed out and 61p as the current price. UP TILL NOW THEY HAVE BEEN SOLD AT 52P, and that can be checked on here as its been mentioned quite a few times in the past. ******* lying ********! :x :x :x

Groceries in general have gone up about 20-30% over the last year but most of the big supermarkets force the supplier or manufactorer to take the brunt of any increase so they continue selling it at roughly the same time. A great indication of this is the bare neccessities which the supermarkets purposely don't discount or very rarely discount. Check out things such as eggs, bread and milk, look past any temporary discounts and just look at what the price is now compared to last year.
Real world inflation in Britain is like 20-30% but the large corporations and the government make such a great job of hiding it that most people are oblivious to it. But wait till it comes to a head, then we'll all be majorly s*****d
