Epsom r285, you can get cheap compatible cartridges for it

Agree with the Epson, Cheapest on ink too, my RX 640 is brill, HP and the like may be a little better qual but wayyyyyyyyyyy expensive on ink even if you refill them.

Only one problem with Epsons though. The inks eventually clog meaning a new printer is needed. Ive got 2 printers sitting here now (R200 and R300) that are dead because of this (and several before these.) Those cleaning cartridges are pretty naff are resolving the problem (Ive bought several and its never worked once!)

Do you mean the waste ink has clogged? If you look on the back of the r300 you will see a little squarish cover towards the left hand side fastened on with one screw, undo this and you will see a plastic tube tucked just inside, fish this out and this is the waste ink pipe you can then divert it to an outside tank and force a few cleaning cycles, you will give it a new lease of life:thumbsup:

I used a small tupperware type tub with an appropriate size hole bored into the side and then used a glue gun to hold the pipe in place and create a seal.

Cheers for that. I will have another look. I (obviously) did google for how to repair and only ever saw mention of completely removing the cartridge assembly.

Wasting ink on cleaning cycles isnt an issue. I bout about 15 sets of ink for these printers and have absolutely loads left!

Edit.... Just tried to give rep.... but said I needed to share it around!

If the problem with your printers is the waste, you may need to reset the waste counter with the SCC Service Utility

Down load ]here or ]here with instructions

It's a great little utility, does loads of things

OK cheers Barney.

One thing I have noticed is the amount of ink thats left over after its said the cartridge is empty. Hopefully this will help that. I'll take a peek!
