I BLAME INTERNET.
Terrible story, but it's just more video game outrage from the Daily Mail. Reminiscent of the media campaign against computer gaming in the early 90's.
Christmas dinner this year will be awkward
it states he watched it on an Xbox then says it was watched at school what the hell was a Xbox one doing in a school with access to porn?
Now, when you say come across...

After reading the article I believe that the latter part is describing a similar case.

Two different cases if you read again.
the fact that he watched it on an Xbox one is irrelevant, they just want to add to the next gen drama

sent from my Xbox one search dwarf porn

backspace

Xbox turn off

You don't say much these days, but when you do, it's a stroke of genius.
I knew it was going to be a daily mail link just from the thread title.
Consoles need to have internet restrictions. Nobody will use a console as their sole purpose to use the internet anyway, so why dont sony, microsoft and nintendo restrict sites/searchs/keywords and other methods themselves? After all a news article like this will damage microsoft xbox 1.

Needs to be done, but honestly if the 13 year old got himself on porn he would of probably done it anyway at another time. So the problem is not the internet but those who do not block sites and/or restrict it ESPECIALLY on gaming consoles that many kids use.

Only people to blame are the parents (_;)

I really don't agree that we should be babysat by big companies because of what a small minority do.

Your being baby sat by big companies as we speak, can you access every website in the world using your ISP? can you access the blocked sites if you was searching from another country..yes. Your being restricted now and will be in the future.

Do you watch porn on your console then?

Ok well they could restrict porn from all consoles out of the box and call up to identify yourself to microsoft/sony,.etc using a credit or debit card then they can unblock the restriction. That way if a child does search porn the person who unrestricted their xbox should get in trouble.

Currently three network do this exact thing.
I agree with choc1969 that if parents have these items in the house with young kids about, then the first they should do is set up parental controls. They are there to be set up and parents should check them regularly to make sure their clever kids haven't bypassed them somehow.
inb4 it wasn't actual porn, he just got his hands on MGSV early..and then hands on his sister

it is the government who decides what content on the internet is blocked, not the ISPs and honestly it is easy enough to get around it. Regardless of that though it should not be the case that content is blocked. Please don't twist my words by saying I advocate sick practices as that is not what is meant.

I don't believe for one moment that watching porn 'made him' do anything or encouraged him. At the end of the day it is his parents' responsibility to allow or disallow what he can do.

This story is to support the Mail's crusade against porn. I'm not buying in to it.
its a good job you didnt spell "come" wrong in your description!
The bit I like best about this article is this line: "There is pressure on children to be sexualised". It is, in typical Daily Mail fashion, followed by the following on the side bar:
http://i.imgur.com/uok8Bd0.png

Click it, and it links to an article fawning over an 8 year old girl's new hairstyle, complete with no less than 13 creepercam-style photos of her in a multitude of poses. Pot, kettle, etc.
pretty tame by the daily wail standards, surprised the headline wasn't 'Xbox rapes 8yr old girl'

The only people to blame for all this mess is the parents and the boy involved, perhaps if parents stopped letting electronics babysit kids and sat with them while they use it they would see exactly what they get up too and how those electronics function.
If only there were some games to play on the XBONE this never would have happened.
Why doesn't Cameron just take out a big full page advert saying 'my internet censorship is a great idea - so there', rather than beating around the bush by getting his dining chums at the Daily Sieg Heil to spin stories to generate support. As it is aimed at the simple minded halfwits who read the Mail it would be just as effective, and probably cheaper than bribing newspaper owners.
I think most people, including the DM, are missing the point here. This 13 year old boy is old enough to know right from wrong & in addition it sounds like it was a planned/calculated incident. There would have been warning signs of wrong behaviour long before this happened - probably from the age of 7/8 upwards. Obviously his parents have not acted upon it.

The xbox, or internet access via any method, is not the issue. It is the fact that a child has some pretty damn serious underlying issues which were not addressed before it was too late. Only the parents and other key adults in the boys life (teachers, etc) can be blamed for not identifying the potential for this before it happened.

Whilst I'm aware of how the DM like to sensationalise stories .... this is a very sad story if the fundamental "facts" are accurate. I feel really sorry for that poor little girl
crap

i havent set restrictions on xbox or wii u (but think i have on 3ds)!

kids only allowed gaming on it on weekends, but will sort this asap now
The only machine to blame is his brain.

(I have to admit, I did laugh at what he said even if it was in poor taste)
I dont see how watching porn made him rape his sister. I watched porn (proper stuff, could even tell you a funny tale about a film with a horse I it) when I was 13 and had no urge to rape anyone.

This is where they always go wrong blaming violence/rape on computer games, films or internet.

At the end of the day, most adults and even most kids can watch stuff without being affected to the extent of copying certain behaviours.

Its just the sick, twisted few that carry out these acts and the likelihood is they would have done it regardless of availability/strength of stimulus.

Not much shocks me these days, but reading that headline managed to both shock me and sicken me to my stomach, I instinctively put my hand to my mouth in absolute horror

neighhhhh u didn't now giddy up
total bull there was something wrong with the kid to begin with,

Probs the sickest thing i've ever come across.

You're just wrong
All consoles should have a leisure suit larry questionnaire to access adult material. Hopefully some spotty yoik can work out the answers and post them all on youtube for us.
Real headline - 13 year old rapes 8 year old sister as hes a sick child with issues.
Inb4 games consoles are evil, ban Xbox, the internet and X-Hamster...

The problem here is the child clearly being a sick individual. Parents also need to take some responsibility.

Exactly.
Hands up anyone who played videogames at 13 (no jokes please), had access to Pr0n and then decided to do something like this.... oh wait. We are all normal.

Misleading headline also as he watched pr0n on the internet via an Xbox.

Typical DM, any sane site should ban links out to it, as much as I'm against censorship, its up to private sites to do what they want.

It's quite pathetic really, the Mail's campaign for censorship and against porn and video games. People though will believe this story, and that it was because of a games console and porn that this boy did this. Irresponsible reporting to push an agenda.

I gave up reading the Daily Fail a long time ago out of frustration amongst other things. Poor spelling, innacurate facts, lack of research, non stories and lots of biased statements. The comments from readers were hilariously stupid but others were so misinformed or clueless that it was painful to read.
