2011 ford galaxy 2.0 tdci just went into limp mode it was serviced last week,i did let it run very low on fuel before filling last night would this cause it?thanks

did you have fuel filter changed on service? if not that will b the cause of the problem. had it happen to me just after I bought my 08 plate galaxy it cost Ford nearly £3000 to fix as was under warranty ended up having 5 turbos , get valve cleaned and other things reset. had no problems since fuel filter changed. Ford recommend fuel filter change every 2 years but I do it every year now. hope this helps.

our Ford focus's management light came on when the air pipe wasn't connected correctly, wonder if they changed the air filter and didn't clip it together properly?

Do you have an OBD fault reader or know anyone that does?

My money is on the DPF, it won't even attempt regeneration if there's less than 1/4 tank. Modern diesels (2004ish onwards) shouldn't be regularly driven with less than a 1/4 tank. You'll find disconnecting the battery for half an hour should at least get the car out of limp mode, but you really ought to diagnose the fault now before it gets rather costly to fix later. Buy an ODB reader, less than a fiver but worth its weight in anything but GBP!

Yes, 100℅ don't remove it though as it's an mot failure it will need hollowing out. Have them delete the egr too on the remap, it will be like a new car. Also you'll get more mpg and better performance. Yes true more wear on other parts like clutch and gearbox but providing you don't thrash it, it'll be great.!. Or if keeping dpf buy a diagnostic cable, download forscan and you can run a dpf regen. Do it a few times.

You're welcome, I hate dpfs, I've got a petrol myself because I don't do enough mileage, my last car was a Galaxy but with the VW pd engine, had it remapped and it was a beast, I still miss the power and economy.

Do not run a forced regeneration ever! The option is there to do this in the PSA software but both Peugeot and Citroen both say they would not use it. You must ensure everything is 100% working correctly and correct level of fluids before even thinking about it!

As for DPF removal, yes, I have had the DPF removed from my BlueMotion Passat and now average 74mpg and I am not too light on the throttle at the best of times! Get it done properly - do your research and get a reputable garage to do it, not the £150 DPF removal squad on ebay or Gumtree!

deffo a dpf problem. you will keep having this issue unless you regularly do motorway journeys to be honest. weve just got rid of our cmax for a petrol qashqai. you want to get rid of the dirty derv and get a petrol car. my recommendation would be to have it cleaned (they can take it off and clean it out- soaking oit overnight) will set you back £300, then get the car up for sale. when the dpf cant be cleaned anymore.. you're looking at £1k + vat and labour for a new one.
