    "3" Data Usage - sorry sir, we cannot tell you how much you have used (lol)

    Ok, so i don't have an internet add-on with 3, don't browse outdoors lol
    Was browsing last night using Wi-Fi on my E71 or so i thought.
    Logged in this morning and found i have a £1.77 charge, not much but why?

    Rung up 3 and have been told the greatest story ever told lol

    The time it takes for me to connect to my wi-fi, i am being charged for anything i download.
    Erm, sorry, on the E71, til you select a method of connection, be that 3 or my Wi-Fi, i am NOT connected as far as i am concerned
    By-the-by, that i don't believe so i ask how much have i used.

    What the hell, they have a system where you cannot tell what a user has used til the bill comes out? Coupled with being told i am charged for connection until my wi-fi connects, i am staggered, 3 have reached a new level of obfuscation lol!

    Hence why i won't go with any company that uses Indian call centres and the like. You'd get more sense talking to your anus.

    I was with them briefly..........one time when i rang someone told me in broken english "Hello, my name is Elvis".......at that point i knew that taking a cheese grater to my ear would be less painful. lol

    Im with 3 but have been for years im tight lol.
    I get 500 x-network nims
    100 texts And
    2000 3 to 3 mins a month
    And a nokia 6500 slide (was free upgrade)
    All for £10.00 a month>>>>See im tight.
    I put up with loss of signal/indian call centre etc.
    Cos i get a lot for £10.00 a month.Was on 12 month contract but they talked me into 18 deal hahaha.I only agreed with 2000mins 3 to 3 for free.
    I only used web bit on phone once to find a pubs address cost £0.75 was in great need for beer.
    So cost was fine.But only looked on net for 20/30 seconds so a bit expensive i think.

    I had to pay for the handset, just under £100 and yes, on a 12 month.
    I just wanted to ring up to find out what i had done, was worried i'd signed up to crazy so and so frog, ding ding.

    On a side note..........does it tell you on the My3 bit on the phone where it tells you how many minutes & texts you have used/have left?

    Yes it does, says minutes and messages, quite clearly and, in defence of 3 (wash out my mouth) it is updated in real time, unlike Orange for example
    But since i do not have a data add-on, just comes up as "current spend" this data usage

    Bit of a pain then as you'd have to keep a running total.

    TBH mate, it's only about the 3rd time i have been done for this.
    What is odd, is this is £2 give or take with VAT. Last month i spent 3p on data usage lol when messing on with Nokia Maps. Seems use upto 1Mb and it's pennies but hit the magic 1Mb or above in 1 session and you'll be charged the £2. As a customer, that's just confusing

    Very strange. Wish this country would catch up on the number of Wi-Fi hotspots available. Even the rest of Europe puts us to shame. :-(

    That's the irony, i was in a wi-fi spot; my own
    I know what you mean though, would be next to web n walk as the sales pitch goes and piggy back onto a wi-fi network

    I have the data add on with 3 and I can't check my current usage via the my3 portal or over the phone

    It would be useful because I would like to check if I'm going to violate the fup. Customer services told me the best they could do is send me a text shortly before i go over the allowance.

    I'm pretty sure the customer service guy told me that it was only ppl who didnt have the data add-on who could check their usage.

    That's definately bizarre. Wonder how many people are being caught out like this?

    The systems the frontline agents can see can run up to 24 hours behind real time. They only catch up when they come to billing time.
    There are a few depts that can see real time usage (mine does) but there not 'customer facing'.

    You have to do you research first before ringing 3.
    I looked on here for info.
    ie £62.50 quidco. £30.00 fer a friend.For a new contract.
    Then rang 3
    I said i want 6500 slide and talk and text 600 which i was on with £10.00 a month life time deal 12 month contract. They said £100.00 for phone.But if go to 18 month deal free phone so £60.00 for 6500 slide not bad so said NO NO NO.LOL
    Argued for 90 mins got his boss said i want to leavr 100 time lol.
    Said could get mix and match 1100 with free land line calls for i think £27.00 take away quico ref a friend etc.
    And only pay a few pounds more a month but free land line calls.i said need more mins a wife and best friend take up all my mins>THey are on 3.So a fter a longggggggg time gave 2000 3 to 3 mins free.Got a call from 3 2 months later saying that that deal does not exist.I said check your recording from this time and date.They said ok in this case we will honour the deal.
    Sorry for long story but might help somone on here.

    Also remember you may have to go through with your threat and leave.
    But you can ring again in a week to see if they have better deal.
    They are also keen not to loose you and norm will ring you in the last week berfore your time is up and offer a better deal.
    I waited till last day rang them got the deal i wanted this was two years ago.So leave and stay the best of both.lol

    Lol, i've been down the, taking my ball in route and they didn't seem to care
    I'm happy with what i have tariff/phone wise just not the CS :-(
