works for me

And me, that was the one good thing about the site change (or it will be once the sort order is, er, sorted) :giggle:

If the search is too small - use a '*'

i.e. SKY*, WII*

That'll teach me not to try it, just presumed it was same as before.

No need for the star trick anymore chrisuk - it should work on any two letters and up.

it doesnt work on R4

Nor DS and adding a * after it does nothing either (but that never worked for me on the old site).

lol - 2 letter searches don't work (* or no *)

just wanted to try out the multi quote:p

At the end of the day theres a lot more things with 3 letters than 2, and if anybody wanted an R4 or DS I would assume they would just type nintendo into the box after getting no results. Now going to try searching for a 2GB SD card and see what shows up......

Here are the reults : ]Click!

Not as successful as one would have hoped. Looks like the search function is still set to OR rather than AND so throws up loads of irrelevant ****.

An excellent way to search for this and get brilliant results:

Go to advanced search. Type "card" as the keyword. Any posts about SD are going to have the word card in it. Select "search titles only". Select the hot deals forums only. Click search. Voila.

If necessary, then use the Ctrl+F on your keyboard to search for "SD".

Ok heres the search results following that advice : ]Click!

Hardly brilliant, not a lot of difference from the original search. The point is, if the search was based on boolean AND rather than OR it would (or should) put back consistently better results. Don't get me wrong Emma, i'm not moaning about it, just pointing out how it could be made more effective:)

Fair enough, it's always worked really well for me in the past.

At the end of the day, it's not really any different to the old search, us old uns know the tricks to finding things. It's the newer users that will be finding it more troublesome. Now if we had Ebays search engine...... :w00t:
