I've had a few HP laptops over the years and build quality was quite an issue with them, usually hinges snapping so I was reluctant to buy this one. Since then i've moved onto a macbook with SSD storage which makes an immense difference on boot time, app start up time etc. But I bought the HP for my sister for the same reason as you: school work, youtube. Other than the noticeable SSD/HDD speed time, the laptop itself is perfect for documents and surfing. The build is sturdy, design is good, its AMD A10 processor has quite high benchmarks for a laptop at this price, normally looking to get an A6/A8. It has a ton of storage at 1TB but I would have preferred if it had a 128gb ssd. The trackpad and clickers are a bit iffy and the fans do get quite noisy, but thats probably just me coming from a mac user. Overall, I think for its purpose, its a well valued laptop for the money.

    Thanks for the help guys!

The Lenovo looks good but a HDMI slot is a deal breaker, I should of added that sorry.

I looked at the HP, I've always had Pentium, is there much difference?

    Thanks again

I'm wouldn't say i'm an expert but generally speaking Pentium processors are in the mid spec of Intel's processors, just before their core i3,5 etc, however depending on the pentium processor it could actually have better performance than the core versions. As comparing older pentium processors to the HP's AMD A10-8700, the HP should have fairly better performance and speed. Wouldn't say its excellent but can handle everyday tasks perfectly, and would be able to cope with more demanding jobs.
