    Sony bravia definitely....

There was one for £350 with normal freeview, or £399 with freeview HD, means you get BBC HD and ITV HD...

Approx £300 and theres lots of deals on atm for the world cup so thats achieveable i think..

Seen a samsung one for £250 new and the reviews are 50/50

want it suitable for a main tv in the living room ideally that could be "seen" from all angles without it going dark like some lcds do if that makes sence?

the Samsung 450 will serve your needs admirably

Without doubt the best deal at the moment is the 32" Samsung LE32B550A5WXX at Argos was £419 last month now on sale at £349. The picture is incredibly sharp and vivid and most review sites gush at its performance for its price, it easily beats our £1200 46" Samsung in the lounge! If you're luck enough to find it in stock at M&S or John Lewis they should price match it and give you a five year warranty too.
