You know how to tell the difference right? Either take it out and look at the sticker. Or take your faceplate off, look through the little hole that's there. White cables means benq and yellow makes it a liteon.

Are they much much harder to flash than the benq drives?

Well you need more things than you need for a Benq.
Have a google for a tutorial on how to flash them and what you need

Knew you'd have a liteon dude, its a return from MS. n00bs always make the mistake of thinking BenQ's are Liteons..

For a liteon there is no simple way, you need a CK3 with Probe kit (will set you back £30)

You will have to open the actual dvd drive iteself and push the probe into a small hole on the circuit board then while holding it in place, use jungleflasher to read the drive.

Benq make drives with the Benq name on them but also make drives for Lite-on. Hence the confusion, Benq are very easy, Liteon means buying a probe and power switch.
